pdroog Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 For those of you who enjoy fishing big swimbaits, what are your top 5 favorite big swimbaits and why are they your favorite? Quote
Fishing Finder Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 I only have 1, that's the Bull Shad by Mike Bucca, some people don't like the finish (it is not as shiny and smooth as some) but of the fish I have caught every one has been a good fish which where I fish is over 5 lbs. I have seen 10+ pounder come completely out of the water chasing this thing. Fish seem to attack it harder than any other bait I use. I have found the more wind the better, again I fish in a local county Reservoir just south of Atl. 1 Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted September 30, 2016 Super User Posted September 30, 2016 In no particular order, Hudd 68, Bull shad/gill, Mattlures Hardgill, Slammer, Deps Swimmer, s-waver...... That is 6, but you get the point! Covers you from top to bottom and nothing there is over 4 oz, so you dont have to have a xxxxxxxxxh stick to throw them. Just a dedicated swimbait setup. Super User WRB Posted September 30, 2016 Super User Posted September 30, 2016 Hard swimbaits; Black Dog wooden Tailwagger, slow sink wooden Shellcracker, 22nd Century 9" triple trout, Deps 250. Soft swimbaits, Hudd 8" & 68. I know that's 6, too many more to choose from, those all work good. Since you can't get the Black Dogs anymore subtract 2 and add BBZ original rat for 5. Tom 1 Quote

It has a very lively swim, it nearly suspends and continues to move slowly on the pause that looks like a quivering bait fish dying. It cast well and fishes very easily. 1 Quote

Super User gulfcaptain Posted October 2, 2016 Super User Posted October 2, 2016 #1 Triple Trout 10" Floater.....warmer months and when fish are looking to chase #2 Hudd Deluxe 8" ROF 5 & 12......cooler months or when a slower presentation is needed. #3 Savage Gear 8" Line Thru Floater weighted to suspend or slowly rise....has a different action then the Hudd and is more weedless then a Triple Trout. #4 Matt Lures 10" Dead Twitch.......good do nothing dead stick big bait or slow twitch bait. #5 5" custom rat my buddy makes but the original Spro Rat will work as a stand in......Good slow topwater presentation and night time bait. Could include a S-Weaver 168, Hudd 6" and 68 in the ROF 12, but don't really consider those as big swimbaits. 1 Quote

We do have a pretty solid population of bluegill and pumpkin seed here. I started throwing the big and little Gantarel during the post spawn a couple years ago and it is awesome. I'll have to pick up a bull gill too. 1 Quote
