Hope I'm not violating any rules but was just wondering if any of you have any experience a company called "Harris Sportsmail."  I'd like some feedback before I order anything.  Please PM me.  Thanks!

There's no problem asking about a retailer.  It's when someone's first post is about some company and their IP happens to be one block away from that company that we pull the spam trigger.  Members in good standing that contribute quality to the forums such as yourself can ask an honest question.

I know nothing about this company, though I have to ask: why a UK retailer, and not find someone in the states?

Cool.

The price for a product was about 1/2 what it is "elsewhere" (one reason why my eyebrows raised).

It looks like they're trying to get a foothold over here or something.  They're somehow also waving VAT.  Shipping looks like murder.

Yeah, shipping is probably enough to stifle my purchase.

I will say this, based off their offerings, they're probably reputable.  You could ask @Tim Kelly. He lives in London.

I've had a few scenarios where ordering from Australia is a pretty good buy. Since we have that trade agreement with some of the pacific countries the shipping isn't too bad. I got a NIB Shimano Sustain from Melbourne, AUS for about $175 plus $15 shipping and it was here in 6 days.

That's not always true, I was given a bit of a hard time when I asked about 2 online retailers, one did happen to be a ***, but I wanted to know why because they were the only retailer that I could find that still had a specific NetBait finesse worm color in stock and if other than spamming that they filled orders in a timely manner.

I am sure my name is dirt with one of the mods;) I almost left the boards because of it, in fact if that mod ever reads my reply where I asked for my account to be closed I could be gone just like that poof;)

Shipping is based on the number of grams.  Even though I can do a conversion from grams to ounces, I can't REALLY get a feel for how much this would be (since the item's don't appear to be listed by weight).

It's doubtful that your name is dirt, you have no warning points, or history.

Here's a excerpt from the Forum Rules & FAQs that pertains to your question:

Quote

Why does the site or product name I posted show up as "another site" or as ***?
First it has nothing to do with competition. In most cases, it has something to do with the points above - site owners not abiding by the rules of the forum, or over-zealous pro-staffers spamming the forums. In some cases, however, the site owner specifically requested that we do not link to their site.

If your post contains ***, then that means you may not discuss that brand here.  Your post will likely be deleted, and you may get banned (see the next paragraph below).

There are consequences for trying to thwart the spam filters.

Put the items in your cart, and it'll update with the weight.

So I went with the fact that the site showed up as *** as a bad sign and will forever be on the lookout for table rock red finesse worms:)

Harris Sportmail are an OK company. They can take the VAT off because it's only applicable to EU residents, a bit like your state sales tax. I don't buy anything from them because they are owned by someone I'm not keen on, so don't want to line his pockets, but they're a perfectly reputable company.

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't fit on any metropolitan streets either.

Even the Express would be too big to launch anywhere too. The Beast wouldn't even fit in the country without the bow hanging over the english channel! :D

I did see that they have the rapala weedless shad, that is very tempting to pick up one or ten of.

Forgot to mention. I won a club tournament last weekend which was sponsord by Harris Sportmail. Dreadful day fishing with very few caught. I had one bite, on the bottom in 55ft, and it was a nice one. 10-08lb and bigger than any other fish by over a pound and bigger than any bag brought in.  I now have a trophy to trip over for a year and an ABU Veracity rod courtesy of Harris Sportmail.
