Robert Riley Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 What's your guys favorite braid? I've really liked Sunline's FX2. I think I might purchase Sunlines new BX2 soon. Quote
Dypsis Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Daiwa Samurai Braid, although I would like to try Smackdown. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted September 28, 2016 Super User Posted September 28, 2016 I like Power Pro and Berkley Professional Braid. Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted September 28, 2016 Super User Posted September 28, 2016 Braid has come a long way in the past 15 years. I've got quite a few that all work great for me. 832, TCB 8, FX2. Quote
Super User MickD Posted September 28, 2016 Super User Posted September 28, 2016 It has been Suffix Performance Braid, but after having tried some 15 # American Tackle Bushido Braid, that may become my favorite. It better last well because it's quite expensive. Quote
Preytorien Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 I like Gliss but I want to try YGK when I get some extra cash. Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted September 28, 2016 Super User Posted September 28, 2016 Im gonna try ygk sinking braid soon for my spinning outfit. Otherwise smackdown is my favorite but so expensive. Jbraid is nearly as good. Im considering using the new bx2 from sunline (sx1 chartreuse bleeds insanely btw) for baitcasters as the added diameter from coating should allow me to use less of the line. 1 Quote
Oklahoma Mike Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Smackdown easily beats everything else I've used to date. Are you guys talking about the YGK G-Soul Upgrade X-8? I've been thinking about adding a spool to my next order and see how it does. They list their 25lb line at .0073 inches, whereas Gliss lists their 24lb at .007 inches. So comparable in size to Gliss, but hopefully a little firmer and more durable (Gliss just comes with far too many headaches for me). If anyone tries it out before I do, please post a review. Quote
MikeWright Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 I use to use PP, but I have to admit, I just fell in love with berkley Fireline, it's rough at first but after that I haven't used anything that impressed me as much as it. Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted September 28, 2016 Super User Posted September 28, 2016 Seaguar Smackdown ... by far the best braid I have used. As a #2 I have to go to PowerPro. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted September 28, 2016 Global Moderator Posted September 28, 2016 I've been useing PP for as long as I can remember. I really don't have a reason to change. Mike 1 Quote
johnD. Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 I'm currently liking Domin8 for frogs and swimbaits...J-Braid 65 # for flip/punch. Quote

What specific headaches related to Gliss ? Quote

Premature fraying/decay, line bow, wind knots, extremely poor abrasion resistance, low sensitivity. It does improve casting distance, but that seems to diminish fairly quickly. Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted September 29, 2016 Super User Posted September 29, 2016 Good things to be aware of with Gliss ... Quote

Yep, that's the one I was talking about. Quote

That's my experience with, and I used both the 24lb and the 40lb and ran it for about 4 months. I'd still recommend trying it for yourself though, as I've seen other people on here who seem to like it. Quote
Airman4754 Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 20lb PP Super Slick 8 on my spinning setups and weightless baitcaster. 30lb regular PP on all my other normal baitcaster setups. 65lb PP Maxcuatro on my frog rod. 50lb Spider Wire Camo on my wood/grass and punch setups. 80lb Suffix 832 on my rat rod. One size definitely doesn't fit all for me. Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted September 30, 2016 Super User Posted September 30, 2016 I have been using PowerPro braid for years and it's a very good line to use for both freshwater and saltwater applications. Quote
WPCfishing Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 I've tried a hand full of braid lines. I'm happy with power pro. I have no interest in other brands now. All my rods and reels are dialed in with power pro now so I'm not changing a thing. 1 Quote
PatrickKnight Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Regular Power Pro for me but I did just get a spool of 832 to try out. Quote
bassassassin87 Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 I have been using PP with all my braid set ups since I started but I am noticing that they are falling behind the competition. Although I have rarely broke PP. It does seem to be very loud going through the eyelets and frays over time. I may try the Sunline SX1, BX1 or smackdown just to see what all the fuss is about. Quote
