Fenwick Aetos Spinning: 7' Medium Power Fast Action

What does this rod excel at?  I already have some Fenwick SB Elite 6'9" ML so I thought this would be a nice compliment maybe matched with a new Shimano Nasci or an on sale Patriarch.  Any thoughts are appreciated!  Thank you!

Would be a nice rod for fishing tubes.

Drop shot, shaky head, tubes, wacky rigs and just about any general finesse technique. The great thing about that rod is it has the tip of a medium light but the backbone of a medium, the tip is soft enough to drop shot efficiently but not so soft that it is only good for one technique.

I ordered the same one the other day.  I can't wait.  I needed it this weekend.  I was throwing 1/16 slider heads with 4 and 5 inch finesse worms.  The only rod that could put them out more than 15 feet was just too whippy to set the hook.  I missed fish all day long.

That's a sweet deal on a great rod! I love the 6'3" medium and use it for skipping, jerkbaits, and accurate caats with finesse stuff to targets

Great to hear, I also ordered one.  The Fenwick site show 10-17 lb line rating, which doesn't jibe with the lure rating, or line ratings of similar rods in the Aetos line.  I assume the 10-17 lb rating is a misprint?

Line ratings are just vague and often inaccurate suggestions, i would not worry about using the rod with much lower pound test line or even higher than suggested.

Rated for 6-14lb. and 1/16-3/4oz. baits.  I have seen the rod before in person and have read the ratings right on the rod.  There is also a video of the exact rod on Youtube which gives the ratings.  I am looking forward to this rod...maybe matching it with a 2500 or 3000 Shimano Nasci.

IN.F.: agreed, though I've found it helpful to try to use them as a reasonable guideline, and this one was so out of whack with everything else about the rod (1/16 oz baits?) it seemed like a typo and caught my attention...

I just got mine a couple of days ago. Not much time on the water yet but like smalljaw67 says, this is an extremely light rod with a soft tip but strong backbone. this rod should cover all of my finesse spinning rod needs but I am a baitcast guy 80% of the time.  Best deal on a high quality rod that I have gotten in a long time.  I absolutely love it. Big-Bass is right on the money with the specs.

Spent about 14 hours with my new rod in the kayak this weekend.  I absolutely love it.  It is exactly what I was looking for.  Was able to sling a 1/16oz head a good distance -- maneuver the bait through the jungle and then manage to work this guy out from lily pads and hydrilla without too much trouble.....firm finesse...

I bought a 7' and a 7'2" medium Aetos a couple months ago.  Been throwing a 1/16th oz bullet weight with finesse worms with it.  Also throwing the 1/8th oz jighead with a TRD.   It will sling both easy, even the lighter weight.  Yet, like Choporoz said...it handles good fish with ease.  I've had several 3's and 4's on, and controlled them fine on the Potomac.
