Boo-Yah Pond Magic Spinnerbaits

Does anybody have experience with these baits? I'm getting some new 1/2 oz. spinnerbaits shortly but was up to Wal-Mart today and saw these. They look like they have a decent size hook on them but they're tiny (only 3/16 oz.), tiny wire and tiny blades. They are cheap at like $3 each but they just look too tiny to sink well and create enough vibration to attract the big bass.

I used them in early spring in some ponds and did quite well.  You are correct, they do not sink much, but the bass were shallow anyway.  At that time, on that water, red was a very good color for me and I caught quite a few fish on it.  And I hate throwing spinnerbaits so that's saying something about how effective this little lure was.

So do you think they would be a good Fall bait as the bass will be coming shallow again to fatten up before moving out deep for the Winter (especially up here in the New England where I live)? What size of a trailer could you put on those?

I use this in a lazy river/creek near my work.  I get bass and bluegill hitting them alot. However, they are smaller bass. I usually reel them in wit random pauses to let it drop for a sec, but if your doing ponds your gonna have alot of weeds. Dropping deep will just get you weedfish.  Hope this helps.

They are my favorite small spinnerbaits.  They are decently sharp, run very true, and are inexpensive enough that I can fearlessly throw them into brush and under docks.

Hmmm...not really interested in numbers and would rather catch more quality bass...maybe this bait isn't for me and I'll stick with the much bigger 1/2oz. baits!!!

They are only going to catch small bass until a big bass decides she wants to bite it.  I've caught more sub one pound bass this year on 10" worms than I care to count.  I've also caught a four pounder in Missouri, which to us, is a good size fish, on a Ned rig in a pond. I looked back at some of my spring fishing and have a couple out of ponds on a red pond crasher in the 3 pound range.  

Point is, big baits might catch big fish, but if they don't want a big bait at that particular time, they simply will ignore it. However sometimes a quick appetizer type meal is just the ticket for them.

I stick to 3/8 as my small spinnerbaits. They are big enough to get a larger fish attention, cast better, will get a little depth, and a little tougher.

Although I've never used a Pond Magic, I do use BeetleSpins as a finess presentation. Don't concern yourself with the hook size unless you'll be rising with braid. The same goes for the smaller blades.  The whole idea behind this type bait is to offer the fish something smaller. 

Think of your plastic worms. If all you carry is 6-7in. worms, I'd venture to say you don't drop shot or use the Ned rig. Same principle.

It's a good numbers bait. Will it pull in a bigger fish every now and then, it sure will. If you're trying to focus only on larger fish, then I'd probably go with 3/8 or 1/2 oz spinnerbaits instead.

I use them quite a bit and catch good bass on them all the time. Here's a decent one I caught just yesterday on a 3/16 Pond Magic in Okie Craw color:

 

I like using them in ponds because I can also haul in some decent crappie on them while I'm at it, and I find bass of all sizes will chase them. If you want to beef up the bait a little bit, throw on a 3" Swing Impact for a trailer.

I have a few. I think they are decent. I think you get more than what you pay for with this particular item.
