New River Addiction Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Hello everyone, I found this site a few days ago and started reading all the helpful and positive posts so decided to join. I've already learned a lot on here from far better anglers than myself and I'm excited to learn some more! I primarily fish for small mouth bass in the New River in Southern Virginia. Looking forward to hear from you and to possibly make a few new fishing friends! Quote

I would recommend taking a little of everything just in case. During the summer they were absolutely wearing out crank baits but I've been doing really well recently with tubes and flukes. On my tubes I only use black. It seems like almost all my plastics are black they just seem to work better for me. I bounce my tubes off the bottom then let them sit for a couple seconds and I usually get a strike on the fall or after they sit on the bottom for a second. It seems like the last few weeks the slower I fished them the better. Although I believe black is the best color I've been using the bass color flukes(because that's all I could find locally) and have had good luck with those on a weighted hook. I tend to catch more on my tubes but I believe it simply because I tend to use those more often than anything else. As far as your hair jigs go I would definitely bring those along. I've caught several on jigs and they may be better suited if your in swift current to get you deep faster.Im sure your guide will be able to give better advice than I can. I believe a lot also depends on the location on the river and I'm sure he knows his spots better than most! Please let let me know how you do and again Good luck! Quote
