Gosh...I've gone years with out breaking any and now this year I've destroyed two in the last two weeks.  Yesterday was a flipping stick on about a 3 1/2 pound largemouth ....the other was a spinning rod on a drum.  Landed the 3 1/2 yesterday which was awesome as we came in second in a small local tourney.  Oh well....time to shop!!!  And maybe lighted up on the hookset.

Wow that is some bad luck.  The last rod I broke was about 10 years ago.  I was fishing from the bank and hung up my bait.  I grabbed the line too close to the rod tip when I tried to free my bait.  Next thing I know I had a two piece rod.

That's rough! In all my years of fishing, I had only broke 2 rods, an ultra light and another rod I had as a kid. In the last year, I've broken 3. All of those can be attributed to my front tie down cleats :/ 2 got caught under them when I picked them up and they snapped in half. The other one took a hit on the edge of it when a giant wake almost tossed me out of the boat when trying to get un-hung. I fell on the gunnel and the rod caught the edge and it peeled the clear coat up. I used it for a year and a half after with no issue, but a few weeks ago, my girlfriend was using it and said the handle felt "funny" so I took a look and sure enough it cracked.

I feel your pain.  I broke a St Croix legend xtreme and a rage this year.  Good thing they have a great warranty!

I broke one BPS Carbonlite. Walked into the store, picked out a new one and walked out.  Not my overall favorite rod, but it is hard to beat the convience for me.

I didn't break any super expensive rods but I did brake one new Fenwick Eagle trying to get a lure in snagged. And I shut a rod locker door on the end of my Mojo Bass spinnerbait rod. That is actually the only rods I remember ever breaking.
