Bruce, many years ago I spoke with my brother who is an attorney about a simple hook remover that I was thinking of producing.

I also obtained data from the library on how to file for a patent.

Results:

1.  Filing for a patent is not easy. You may need legal assistance along with a draftsman. Go to your local library and look for a book on how to file a paten or check it out on the Internet.

2.  If your invention is successful the Chinese will copy it and flood the marketplace.

3.  You will not be successful if you sue the Chinese for the illegal production and sale of your patented invention.

4.  Patent attorneys can have high hourly rates.

Check out how to file for a patent and then decide if you want to continue your efforts by yourself or with an attorney.

Good luck.
