FordsnFishin Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 I'm sure many of you fish as often, or more than I do. An personally I'm a bit hard on my gear at times, while still giving it the maintenence it needs. So as of now this season what have you broken out fishing? Hopefully someone can make me feel better about myself. The beginning of the season was mean to me. Started off with a starter going out on the motor. Than weeks later winching my boat onto the trailer the stitching holding the hook on snapped. Few weeks later trolling motor rope snapped. Than went a pinion gear on a curado e. Followed by two rods snapped, one right above the reel seat! An just now I had the gears go bad on a t3 1016 reel I just purchased. So, feel free to make me feel better. Quote
bigfruits Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 I cannot top you but I did leave a tackle bag with about 4 3700 planos and 2 big pockets full of my favorite baits at a boat launch for about 30 mins and it disappeared. Have a nice weekend! 1 Quote

BadContrakt Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 I can't top you, as a matter of fact, I have more new & pretty stuff this year than broken stuff... Actually... Come to think of it, I've not broken anything this year. Just a handful of lost baits is all I've got to worry about, but everyone gets that. Quote

You don't fish nearly enough if that's all you've lost. Quote
CenCal fisher Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Two iPhones a month apart. I had a perfect record with phones till I started bass fishing. I never even dropped mine on carpet 2 Quote
Jonister Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 I broke the rod tip to my flyrod somehow the other day. The smallies were jumping, with absolutely no wind. When I pulled it out of rod tube, it was busted! It was an easy fix, but still sucked! Quote

Minimum 2 times a week if not 3-4. I work part-time and fishing is pretty much all I do when I'm not working. Everyone I know wants to send me to Fishaholics Anonymous because I sincerely have a sickness. Bassoholism. I eat sleep dream live bass fishing. I know I'm not the only one around here with that sickness either, so I feel comfortable admitting I have a problem here. I'm just really... Really good at being careful with my things. 2 Quote

I have unfortuanately lost way more tackle than that even though I go swimming for every lure I snag, I just can't always find them because of depth, poor clarity, etc. Quote
Super User scaleface Posted September 17, 2016 Super User Posted September 17, 2016 I can top you . My last fishing trip was cut short because of a retina going out . My wife asked "what are you staring at?" and I replied "all those birds in the sky ." There were no birds . 2 Quote

I qualify for this statement, but haven't broken anything since my fall in a rock pile. I am extremely careful handling my rods. Breaking a tip going through a door....either home or car would make me cry. I prefer to believe people are basically honest but would rather not put it to the test by leaving my gear unattended. 1 Quote

That's some serious stuff man! Have you gotten it checked out? Quote

Nothing they can do about that . Quote

Super User Jar11591 Posted September 19, 2016 Super User Posted September 19, 2016 Just a broken rod! Quote
Dan_the_fisher Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Rebuilt the motor on our boat this spring, first trip out when spun the hub in our prop after waiting on it to rebuilt we took the boat back out to find it was missing on two cylinders and wouldn't even plain out, fixed it after a full day off trouble shooting, and the next time out on the water it took off like a top and we was going doing the lake about 55 when it blew out the number 3 cylinder and locked up on us. Drowning us with 45 degree water on a very cold morning miles away from the ramp. Finally got that bad luck bot fixed and sold, and now I've never broke a Rod in my life before this and I've broke a glx, Phenix m1, and my favorite tourney special spinning Rod I've had forever.
