Sebas Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 What is the best Rod for 130 Whopper Plopper? Quote
onetime Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 The best way to find your answer is to use the search feature. Lot's of great info on the bait and correct rod to use. I throw mine with a Dobyns Champion 736 and use 20lb Big Game. Is that "The best" rod? I'm not sure, but it works great for me, and what will be best for me may not be for you. Take a little time to read through posts and narrow down your selection, and try to handle the rods (with a reel on) to get a feel for it, good luck. Quote
Robert Riley Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 I throw it on a muskie rod haha. I'd throw it on a Dobyn's Fury 734. 1 Quote
Molay1292 Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 7'6" crankbait rod MH MF is what I use. Quote
Super User MassYak85 Posted September 16, 2016 Super User Posted September 16, 2016 I use a 7'2" HF Tatula, now if I was getting a rod specifically for it I would get something else but with a limited rod arsenal it's what works best out of what I have. Quote

Advantage Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 I've thrown it on a 7 ft MH and a 7 ft H rod. The MH more in open water and the H more around cover (weeds, wood, and docks). Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 17, 2016 Global Moderator Posted September 17, 2016 I use a 7' 3" H/F with 50lb braid. Quote
rangerjockey Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Anything that will handle the weight of the plopper.. I usually throw it on one of my heavy jig rods which are Cara Amistads with 16lb. flouro. Quote
trupp30 Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 The Fred's magic stick from iRod would be a good choice. You could use it for a bunch of other things, too. Quote
