I am wanting to get a new ancher that is easier to store on the boat. The one I have now takes up alot of space. The one I am looking at is a river ancher that is good for mud bottom lakes as well. It comes in different weights. What would be the right weight to get? I have a 15ft SeaArk boat. Thanks for any help.

Depends on how fast the current is moving. I have two 18 pound mushrooms in my 14 ft jon and the current in couple of the rivers I fish will still drag it until they find something on the bottom to hang on to. In swift water, it's better to find a tree or something to tie onto.

ya know what i asked myself that question last year at this time. I just bought a new 2004 Ranger and i like to camp. So i park the thing in a cove. Well I am a worry wort especially when my new boat is parked in the cove, so i asked myself i had 2, 15 lbs river anchors, and well i just couldn't sleep as well so i went out and bought a 30 lbs just to make me sleep better :D. Yep tho it depends on current, wind etc in yer area. I would think with a 15' a 15 lb should hold the boat nicely. I would  go with the  15 lb river anchor, as i feel it holds on the bottom better then the mushroom does. Now you could look at the other kinda anchors that are designed to dig into the bottom but unless yer on like the ohio or mississippi rivers ya just don't needem. :( Can't go wrong with a river anchor.

Thanks for the advice. I will be going to BPS classic this weekend and I will be getting a few things. Yes the bait monkey will be there. :D
