Fishing Space Crowding and Decency.

Ok. New here at Bass Resource and brand new at kayak fishing. going to the delta this coming weekend and wanted to ask you more experienced anglers and kayakers; What is the golden rule as far as going to a crowded, popular place like the delta and keeping enough space between myself and other anglers?  Some people don't even want you on the same general area for fear of you taking their fish, others don't mind sharing the water so much.  So what's considered cool and what would be stepping over the line? Do you ask other kayakers if it's cool to fish right by them?  Thanks!!!

IMO If you can cast into their cast then you're too close and if you pull in front of someone working the bank it should be by at least 50yds. The Delta is a big enough place that you should never be forced to fish right next to someone.

I think it's preference.  Some people are crazy , and if they can see you then you are to close.. I think the best is to just keep a safe distance. I'm not sure how big the lake is.. but id say close enough to make conversation is too close. Treat others how youd want to be treated. Think of it like this.  If you were in that spot first.. how close would you allow someone to get before you got aggravated?. Keep that boundary when you're coming up on an occupied spot. And all should be good.

This.  If someone gets irritated, they're way too picky.

This time of year you shouldn't run into too much trouble. In the late winter through spring when it takes 30lbs to even cash a check at a small tournament the guys get very protective of spots.

I tend to stay away from those that are active in tournament fishing in my area,many of those guys are more interested in what technique you are using than finding a fishing buddy.Some people will do anything to win a bass tournament!I do enjoy fishing with beginners and often go out of my way to teach people how to fish if they approach me in a respectable way.
