The difference between them is that fireline and nanofiliment are actually "braided"

These both fused, micro-filament lines, and not braided.

Gliss fraying has not been an issue for me at all.  But, while I've used it a lot over the past year plus...my experience is somewhat narrow:

I use only 12#;

only on spinning reels;

and only with a leader: 6# and 8# Yo-Zuri Hybrid -- Alberto knot has never once slipped when tied well (7up/7back; interwoven, minimize overlap.)

I've not had a reason to try it for other applications.

For what its worth, when I started this thread a couple years ago I tried a couple of superlines. I've settled, for now..lol, with Diamond Illusion Spectra on several reels. Been using it since last fall and don't have any complaints other than its hard to find. I like it better than the 3 I asked about in the title thread.

Of course, I've got good ol mono on several too.

Found a spool of 12 lb Gliss in my 'line drawer'.  Lol, I have no idea how long it was there...didn't know I had it.  Maybe came in LTB or MTB last year and I didnt know what it was.

Anyway, spooled it up on ML spinning rod with YZ leader and had a hell of a time with it this morning.  Nasty wind knot early forced me to cut some out and didn't replace the leader.  Proceeded to break off 4 times, twice on fish, twice on snags.  Was throwing trick worm with 1/16 lead trig.  Maybe the lead was cutting it fast...IDK...One more wind knot and I was done.. if that wasn't enough, the 12lb is SO thin, like fine thread, that it was hard to run through sinkers and challenge to tie. It is thin enough to slip through the hook eye gap while trying to tie....didn't know that was even possible.  Maybe the worst thing was that this green Gliss is nearly invisible...some might appreciate that, but not this line watcher.

 Will replace leader and try one more time, but I'm not hopeful that it'll work for me...not 12lb, anyway....was pretty maddening.

I'd forgotten about this post....lol.   I quickly became a huge fan after that first outing :)

It is still nearly invisible, but I got used to that in most conditions....and I picked up some chartreuse to try out this year

Thought this a good time to update....I've raved about Gliss on BR a few times.  I do still love it for nearly all the bass fishing that I do with spinning rods.

However, my bass fishing is nearly all for largemouth, always with leaders and rarely in conditions where my mainline contacts rocks.

I just spent a week in North Western Ontario with 18# Gliss spooled on walleye and northern rods, using six to ten inch steel and titanium leaders.  Even ten inch leaders aren't nearly long enough to prevent quick damage to Gliss in sharp, rocky conditions.  Might have been the same with any sub 20# superlines, IDK.  But, I probably won't be using Gliss again in northern Canadian waters unless it is with much longer leaders....I did try Gliss to 10#YZH leaders to titanium -- worked better, but while I don't mind tying leader knots for my 'normal' fishing, re-tying leaders combined with extra leaders got to be a bit more than I was willing to put up with.

My experience with Gliss appears to be somewhat different than many of the reports I've read...

...The 19lb. version I continued to fish almost exclusively through Sept., Oct. and Nov.  It behaved very similarly to the 6lb. Fireline I'm very familiar with except the casting distance was initially improved.  As I got into Oct. I noticed the coating was wearing off and it began to fray.  By the end of Oct. I found and cut off significant abrasions, some 20' - 30' up the line.  On a couple of occasions I lost ~2lb. walleye to line breakage several feet above the terminal connection.  Along with the abrasions I noticed the line no longer out distanced the 6lb. Fireline when casting.  I ended my fishing season being disappointed with the 19lb. Gliss when comparing it to the 6lb. Fireline and will throw this well worn line away before spring.  I have never thrown any other PE line away because of wearing... even after several years of fishing it.

That's my story with Gliss.

(edit: the 19lb Gliss was always fished with a 6lb. mono-filament leader of 6' - 2' length)
