dervollender Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Well the I have found a River Hawk procaster down in Georgia. But I have one problem, Georgia does not title boas or trailers. and I live in West Virginia, and they want evrything to get a boat and trailer registered. How do I go about getting a title for the boat so I can register the thing. Thanks Mitchell Quote
Ben Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 I would check with your home state to make sure you have the proper documentation to title it. They will do it as if it's a brand new boat being sold for the first time in that state, but you need to be sure of what they need from the seller as proof of purchase. Make sure you include the motor also. GA does not require a tiltle on it either but many states do. Quote
Guest JoshKeller Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Go to the DMV in Martinsburg, and ask them for an affidavit for a boat wihtout a title. You will need to bring this with you when you get the boat, AND go to the DMV or equivilent and get a proof of registration, signed over to you, along with a bill of sale stating the amount for the boat, the amount for the trailer, and the amount for the motor, otherwise, you will be taxed a set amount for all 3 seperatly. It was $127 to get my boat and trailer legal in WV last year, and that was without the title for the boat from NC. If the boat has a registration, you can just have it signed over along with the bill of sale, and skip the affidavit. Quote
Swampfishing Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 I feel your pain, I have a boat from Alb. that has never been registerd/titled. and is so old it has no HIN Quote
dervollender Posted March 7, 2006 Author Posted March 7, 2006 Josh, Thanks, I wish they would tell you that in Martinsburg. I have 2 more work trailers that I am having the same problem with. I have asked them several times how to get my trailers register, they keep telling me to take the trailers back to the owners and have them get titles and then sign them over 2 you. the guy that I bought them from gave me the MSO papers but they have his name and not mine on them, but he signed them over to me and they still will not give me plates. And I have lost the guys number and and he doesn't live in the town the papers have his name with. So I have been useing the plates off a thrird trailer. Thanks Again Mitchell Quote
dervollender Posted March 8, 2006 Author Posted March 8, 2006 So the guy I am buying the boat from, called River Hawk Boats and they told him to come over and get a new MOS for my boat in my name. So problem solve. Mitchell Quote
