Minn Kota Fortex stabilizer

Hey one!

My Fortex is rubbing on my boat when it's stowed away and I'm looking at adding a stabilizer. The only thing is I don't like how the Fortex stabilizer mounts because you have to drill into the plastic and I don't think that's wrong enough. I see that there is another stabilizer for Minn Kota's other trolling motors (link below). Can I use this because all you have to do is drill through the aluminum in the stand will be point up when in use which I'm fine with and then in use when stowed away.

I have a 112 Fortrex on a quick release mount.  

The motor came with both the Velcro strap that secures the shaft and the MKA-50 FORTREX BOW-MOUNT STABILIZER KIT (Bounce Buster)  that mounts to the right or left side of the bow guard.

Not exactly what's rubbing or where on your boat.  More info or a picture could help.

I'm just at work now but the aluminum part rubs right where the fibreglass meet the carpet. I will have a picture tomorrow. I don't believe just the strap will fix the problem and I am looking for a stabilizer.

That looks like an installation problem - not enough clearance.

I'd put the motor on a MK quick release mount - besides the benefit of the mount itself - it would raise your unit () slightly which will most likely resolve your rubbing issue.

I'd also go ahead and install the kick stand type stabilizer as well - that motor should always have one.

Try a RAM Mount and maybe put thick padded sticky tape strip there.

I bet there is a product out there that can cushion and not damage the boat finish.  Good luck.
