Super User BrianinMD Posted September 8, 2016 Super User Posted September 8, 2016 Getting a mortgage is a painful ordeal, every time I turn around they need more paperwork. Will be glad when this is all done. It will be all worth it but the process is crazy. Quote

Super User BrianinMD Posted September 9, 2016 Author Super User Posted September 9, 2016 Thanks, I have not bought a house since 1999 and things have changed a lot. Will be going from a small townhouse in the middle of way to many people, to a custom cape cod on 6 acres with a 3 stall horse barn with very few people around. Cannot wait to sit on the porch in the morning with a cup of coffee and listen to nothing.... 7 Quote

Nice_Bass Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 being in the industry now 10 years a quick bit of advice... get the lo everything you can as quick as you can. Most of the things we ask for we also disagree with, however we no longer get to win many arguments with regulation or underwriters. Its quite an overly complicated process and nothing like buying a car, etc. which some folks always think it should be easy as (not relating this to you). 1 Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted September 9, 2016 Author Super User Posted September 9, 2016 Nice_Bass, we actually just got the "conditional approval" from the underwriter. They are only asking for 4 more things, all pretty easy. Hopefully this will be it, and we do not close until the 29th so should be in pretty good shape. Our closing was pushed out because the sellers asked for extra time to get the house/barn packed up and the horses moved. It helped us too so we agreed. 1 Quote
Super User Gundog Posted September 9, 2016 Super User Posted September 9, 2016 I feel your pain Brian. I had to postpone my closing so I could get even more info and a inspection for the bank. The hole process took way too long and cost way too much. I'm still not sure what all the fees I had to pay to the bank were for but in the end I got my house. And I learned a lot about the mortgage process than anybody ever told me. So if I ever go to buy a new home I will know not to. Cause it just aint worth the hassle. Quote
