Live.2.Fish Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 This is probably a dumb question but I can't figure it out and I'm looking for some help. Just got an '82 17' bass tracker with an '82 50hp Merc on it and I can't seem to find the release to pop the motor cover off to get at the engine. Its the taller OB and it looks like the cover is a "wrap" around kind. Any advice would be wonderful!!! Quote
GobbleDog Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 There's gotta be a release somewhere. It's usually on the front, but I spose it could somewhere on the back or side of the engine. :-? Quote
stimpy17 Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 http://www.mercurypartsexpress.com/PartsExpress/ProductSelection/ServiceParts/sphome.asp?CID=168163190070229065269 Look for your make and model then the drawing of your engine cowling and the attcahment points should be there. They do hide the screws under trim sometimes Quote
Madhouse27 Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 I know on my old Merc you remove the faceplate and underneath it are the release points for the wrap around thing. My faceplate has a thing you turn down at the bottom of it that makes it kind of pop out. Not very technical I know, but maybe it will help you. Quote
Live.2.Fish Posted March 4, 2006 Author Posted March 4, 2006 Thanks for the info, I did get the lid off the motor. The release was really stuck though. Quote
