Hop Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 Has anyone fished Storm"s Swim Baits? If so how did you do with them? Thanks Quote
berkley Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 i like them when there is deep water because the kind i use goes pretty deep only thing i dont like about them is the hooks it is hard for me to get a hookset unless they got the whole thing in there mouth Quote
fish-fighting-illini Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 It is my go to bait. I've caught Crappie, LM Bass, Walleye, trout and Wht Bass on the same luer. It is my #1 go to bait. It is now my buddies #1 bait and several other peoples #1 as a result. I gave a kid in need a reel and threw in a storm bait and he loves it too. I predominantely use the 3" just the basic single hook minnow type one with the disc shaped tail. At approx .50 ea I can afford to lose a lot as apposed to one crank bait. I don't heve near as much luck on the 4". I'm wanting to try some 5 & 6's for muskie ,Northern, Walleye etc. I'll need a bigger rod though. I bounce them along the bottom a lot in the past. This year I'm putting generic spinners on them to be more weedless. I'm going to try some of the 2' ones more so this year. Their is a website that sells these in more colors and sizes 5,6,7,9". It is www.customspinnersunlimited.com Give the bait a shot and pm me on how you do it rocks. Quote
fish-fighting-illini Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 I've never found that color makes much difference in these. I realy believe it is the action of the tail. I've used the redhead a lot with good success but they stopped making it in 3". I've also used bunker, mullet and firetiger Quote
jomatty Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 there is no doubt that you can catch fish with these. there is also no doubt in my mind that if you can spend the money there are much better options out there that will give you a lot less headaches. less than half of the storm baits are useable imo as most will run on there sides at any speed. take a look at how the lead head is centered in the lure and you can usually get a pretty good feel for how the bait will run in the water. CrazedL.IFisherman Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 I really like using the storm pike lure in the 4 inch version, pickerel and bass smash this lure and seems to catch a good size as well Quote
Dawn2Dusk Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 The Storm Kickin' Minnow is a bass killer where shad bait fish are present. If you don't plan on fishing it near thick woody cover, I would change the hook out with a VMC sure set... http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&partNumber=83530&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults Quote

They don't work only where shad are present, they just work period. Both the 4" and 6", the latter getting quality fish. Most other storm swimbaits have not been too succesful for me, but then maybe I didn't try them as much as I should... Too many lures, too litle time Quote
hog heaven Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 The 4" chartruse perch is a killer lure, it does not produce alot of bites but when larry hits its a biggin i have found fishing it slow is defintly the way to fish it . Quote

I am not too big of a fan either. I bought a package of the 3 sunfish b/c the bream spawn was going on at the time. NOT A SINGLE ONE ran right. Quote
The Next KVD Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 I've had great success on Storm's Wildeye Live Perch (4") and Sunfish (3"). I manly use the sunfish as a bed fishing lure and the perch on flats, dropoffs ect. Can't seem to catch anything smaller than 3lbs on them. Quote
