IgotWood Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 I have heard quite a few guys rave about this bait. I bought a bag this summer, and have been fishing it quite a bit. Supposedly, it has an air pocket in its tail which keeps the tail elevated off the bottom while at rest, and giving the tail a slow, and natural looking action. I want to like this worm, but it just does not draw strikes for me. Maybe it's me...I don't know... I've rigged it with different weights, and I've tried several different hooks and hooks sizes. I like the Owner EWG worm hook in a 5/0, but still, the movement on this bait seems minimal, and its tail lays flat on the bottom. Am I doing something wrong? Anybody here use this bait with any success? Quote
timsford Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 I haven't tried it but the concept sounds solid. I like rigging 10 inch worms on big swinging football jigs and shakyheads. I think it presents it unlike most guys around here, which just use the standard Texas rig. Quote
Airman4754 Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Kicker Fish 11" ribbon tail. I don't care what hook you put in it, it stands straight up off the bottom. It's a really cool bait. 1 Quote

S. Sass Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Wbsite works for me https://kickerfishbait.com/shop/hightail®-ribbontail-11-copy/ But it doesnt look promising for any purchases. I see CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE and the link to find a dealer goes to nowhere. Might try to call or mail them 281-470-BASS! 1710 Sens Road, La Porte, Texas 77571 Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted September 7, 2016 Super User Posted September 7, 2016 I really wanted to love PT plastics...but honestly, everything I've tried (worms, tubes, trig-jig, craws, hammers...) has been something of a disappointment...I guess disappointment be a little strong....but, I like alternative brands for everything I've tried of theirs 1 Quote

bunkerbstr Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 I've used the 10" Hinge worm for several years. Definitely has it's place in the box and does work well when the fish want a bigger worm. I use/rig the Ribbon Hinge worm a couple of ways -- Standard TX rig, typically a 1/2 ounce bullet weight and a 5/0 EWG style hook. It also works very well on a c-rig, use the same 5/0 EWG hook and weight of your choice. For whatever reason the fish don't always want to eat a bigger worm though, so if you're not getting big in an area where you know there are fish, switch it up. Some guys live and die by using one bait, don't be that guy. Best test would be when you're on the fish, catching them good, toss out the 10" Hinge worm and get bit. Confidence goes up tremendously, Bigger worms are great and fun to use. I usually always have on the deck during summer. Good luck 1 Quote

This is exactly what I did.I have fished it several times, but a few days ago, I threw the worm where I was already catching on a big worm. I even threw the same color. I had one bite on it, but that was it. Put the 12" worm back on and hooked up right away. I'll keep at it. Quote
primetime Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 They look good, I would imagine they would work, but I seem to always gravitate toward a big Power Worm when I want a bigger worm or the Yum Mighty Worm, Producto Paddle tail...I notice that when I fish a 12" worm I get fewer Strikes, but for some reason a 10" worm just seems to get alot more attention and the same quality fish. Big worms have always been either hit or miss for me, I only use them in the Middle of the Summer for some reason, but the extra size seems to make a big difference. I have had success with some of the Power Team baits, I like some of the colors and designs, but I rarely use them except for the swing Hammers which I have a bunch of so I often cut them down as trailers since the paddle tail/Flat Bottom can be good on a swim jig at times. I would imagine it is tough to make money as a smaller bait company these days with the bigger brands dominating the marketing, companies like Yum and Havoc lowering Prices to $2 per bag, kind of hard to compete unless you can create something really unique. I hope Power Team is still in business, when I ordered from them they sent me a good amount of Samples to try out which I appreciated. Seemed like a good company to buy from. Quote
