Out fishing with the grandson this morning.  We were in the shade of a big tree on shore and I'd placed my sunglasses atop my cap. A bee started buzzing him and without thinking I grabbed my cap by the bill and swung at it. Missed the bee and watched my Costas sail away.

This is why I don't buy Costas.   That and because I'm cheap.

Think of it as an opportunity to buy some Oakley Prizms instead. ;)

I did roughly the same thing with a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses. Went swimming and actually found them, but it was in a pond and I found them in about 3 feet of water.

While surf fishing in Melbourne, Florida, I entered the surf with my Ray Ban Aviators on top of my head and a big wave hit.  That is the last time I saw them!!! :mad1::mad3::mad1:

I always try to multi task or otherwise be as efficient as possible. That leads to me hurrying or trying to do too much at once. Like carrying 2 tackle boxes and 8 rods at the same time. Or trying to jam in6 8 foot rods in my mustang. Or the equivalent despite the fact I have broken several rods by doing this. I am always in a hurry to get in the water that I can't resist the urge. This year I have been better, I load up the boat and re-rig the night before. Boat is uncovered, rods out, boat hooked up t o the truck and fueled with all tackle for the day. I literally wake up, shower, grab coffee and Im good to go.

While evacuating the (at the time) coming flooding in Gonzales, La, I burnt the bearings on the hub of my truck. Thankfully got the truck towed right before the flooding came.

I saw my buddy lose his prescription sunglasses overboard while just looking over the side. Sweat made them slide right off his face and into the ocean.

Since then I always wear a cheap Strike King sunglass strap on my prescription Ray Ban Wayfarers. They are too expensive to chance an accident.

Two weeks later I sat on them and cracked

That's brutal man :/ maybe you can go swimming while it's still warm enough to?

My dad had a similar thing happen, while waiting for me to pull up to the dock after launching he decided to take his sweatshirt off. His sunglasses were on his had just like yours and when he grabbed it to take it off they fell in the lake. The water was dirtied up from all the boats getting put in (we were in a tourney). We started a few hundred yards up from the landing and fished our way back. I hopped in and felt around with my feet and managed to find them in about 5 minutes. A few weeks later they broke haha

That's too bad Joe ?

I buy and wear Amphibia Sunglasses - they float.

In fact I dropped them in the drink 3 BassResource road trips ago.......twice on the last day!

I'm pretty sure that was the road trip I met you on!

The first time They floated right back up.

A little later they were perched upon my hat.....pulled off my hat to wipe the sweat and they flew off and bounced off the gunwale.......with lenses popping out of the frames.....all landing in the water......frames popped back up......lenses don't float......ordered new lenses ($40) and still have them today!

Brand new fenwick with a brand new pro qualifier spooled with 17# florocabon and a brand new 3/4 oz jig, none of which had been used. We had a fifty minute ride in Simi rough water had my six rods in the co angler rod spot beside the co angler seat and my dumb a** didn't strap the rods down, so when we got to our first stop I had been releaved of my brand new set up.

I dumped a week old iPhone in the surf on Kauai trying to land a bonefish on a fly rod...

Killed the phone, lost the fish, PO'd my boss...all at the same time.

Silver lining: it was the 2nd day of a 10 day vacation...no one from work could bug me the rest of the trip...

I drove to the ramp for 4:30 AM to launch boat for a club tournament and when I got out to get boat ready for launch I found the 50-foot extension cord following the boat.

Drive was about 30 miles.

I got boat ready to travel at home and forgot to unplug the battery charger.

Really felt dumb but had to laugh at myself.

You're lucky a giant cat didn't follow you to the boat ramp.
