Good Light Beer Choices

So, I am looking to expand my pallet for beer. I spent most of my drink money on Bud Lite (Cajun Blood is 50 percent Bud Lite, and 50 percent saltwater with cayenne pepper), but, in order to feel accepted by my young, almost hipster-esque peers, I want to try more and new light beers. I finally tried Sweetwater 420 on reccomendation of Fishing Florida Radio, and I dug it. But it is hard to find here. Any ones I should try friends?

I may be old school, or maybe just old, but when speaking of beer, good and light do not belong in the same sentence.

Guinness, and schlafly oatmeal stout.

Guinness comes in 11.2 Oz bottles,  so that counts as a light beer right?

Any words like "fun", "interesting", "flavorful", etc when combined with "light beer" becomes kinda an oxymoron.  Dude, you're in Louisianna, right? Abita makes a bunch of delicious beers.

Light beer is the equivalent of mild hot sauce. It makes no sense to me.

I say the same thing about decaffeinated coffee. I drink it for the kick not the taste.

Beer is the same. I am looking for the kick not the taste and I do have to watch my weight so if I am going to drink beer its got to be light.

If I am looking for taste in my drink its going to be a Canadian whiskey instead! If I am really going to splurge on calories and money its going to be a Macallan 12 year old single malt.

If you are overly concerned about calories in your adult beverages, maybe you should try to limit them in other foods instead?

I'm pretty snobby when it comes to beer and wine, though I do enjoy the simple pleasure of a clean, light beer after hard work in the yard on a hot day.

I do. I am not overly concerned its just a matter of saving calories here and there.

I am down from 280lbs to 190lbs through watching my caloric intake and using my Fitbit to track 10,000 steps a day.  Everyone's battle with weight is different. I found that once I tracked my calories and exercise with technology the pounds came off.

There's a local brewery, Sante Adairius Rustic Ales, that makes some exceptional 'lighter' beers.  Unfortunately, you pretty much have to be a local to buy them as they usually sell out of all of their offerings.  If you're ever in the Santa Cruz, CA area and are a beer snob, it is a MUST to try. 

Oh and by the way it's palate, not pallet....

By light beers, I'm assuming you mean 5% alcohol or less and a "thinner" texture compared to a stour or an IPA.
 

I like Founders All Day IPA.   I like a newer beer from O'Dell's called Drumroll.   It is only available in cans (in the KC Metro area, don't know about anywhere else)    On a hot day, very few beers beat a Shiner Ruby Redbird (must be ice cold)    If  I'm at some restaurant or bar and only domestics are available I'll go Miller Lite - which is a decent Pilsner, IMO

Probably a lot of you on here aren't old enough to remember 3.2 beer.  Used to be, in some states you could drink 3.2 when you were 18 yrs old but couldn't drink "regular" beer until you were 21.

Lite beer is one of the greatest marketing ploys there ever was.  It used to be that lite beer was just the 3.2 that "adults" couldn't stand to drink.  

I have to agree with a few of the previous posts, when I drank beer, I never thought much of lite beer.  But, then again, the best beer was in Germany.   Now, they had some good beer and it sure as heck wasn't "lite".
