Looking at a 14' jon boat. What would be a good battery for a Minn Kota Endura Max 55 42” Shaft  and a Minn Kota  45 Edge Bow Mount 45” Shaft motor? Keep in mind that I will be 16 and going to local lakes for a day of fishing. I will use the transom motor for runs and the bow mount for trolling. I am paying for the whole thing myself (I think). Money is tight, but I don't want some rinky dink boat that won't last. I want to make sure it will last a while. I want to stay under 1500 total. 500 for boat plus trailer 750 for motors, that doesn't love much room for the rest including the casting deck and other stuff. So back to my point, are Cabelas AGM batteries worth it, or will a marine/rv deep cell work. I will be buying one for each motor. Also, i might not put the bow mount on right away, as money is tight. Thank you so much, Id be lost without you all.

Crusty I fish from a Bass Raider 10E and I use the walmart 29dc batteries I just had to replace it I got 7 years of use from it and we fished hard in spring and fall. I used a trickle charger on the battery. The walmart deep cycle are just as good as any other and if they do go bad a walmart is always close by.

Thank you, and how much did they cost, Jeffo?

I just bought one to replace the 7or 8 year old battery and it was just a little over a hundred bucks.

You leave your batteries plugged in 24/7?

If your charger has a conditioning mode, then yes, you should leave them on the charger 24/7.

yes mine is a trickle charger and conditioner. so when I am not using it I just leave it plugged in. It charges when it needs it and shuts off when not needed.

I just paid $86.83 for the Walmart Everstart 29DC for  $99 you can get the  one marked Everstart MAXX 29DC the only difference is the MAXX has a 2 year warranty and the other a 1 year warranty.  If you do buy one grab one with the freshest build date.

I use Interstate Deep Cycle Batteries.

I've been told a few time the Walmart batteries are made by Interstate. If you're on a budget get the Everstart deep cycle in a group 27 or 31 size.

my friend uses them with a mini lots 36 pound thruster, it only last 4 hours on the water, without using it the whole time...

Sounds like the battery is bad.  My Interstates generally go around 12 hours of fishing use.  If it's a bad windy day, and I'm using more, it might be less, but I don't recall them ever dying in 4 hours.  Just doesn't make sense.

I have the Walmart Everstart  in my 18' Lowe. 2 for the trolling motor. I can troll most of 3 days on one charge. Most of the time an 8 hour day they are still 85 to 90% left.

What the hell is a mini lot?

I have a group 29 and a Minn Kota Max. I've never had a day on the water when the battery went dry. Plus, I'm in heavy cover a lot. I have a Bullnose rudder on mine.  Keeps weeds off the prop, steers better and helps keep the canoe in place on windy days when I'm not anchored.
