What exactly is the purpose of the oring when rigging the wacky worm? Just to hold it on the hook so you're not putting the hook through the worm?

it's to make the worm last longer. If you just put the hook through the worm the worm will only last one or two fish

Just because they don't fall apart, doesn't mean that you can't lose them

It also doesn't mean that they work as well as a Senko.

If you use a piece of rubber tubing and put the hook through that and then the Senko though the rubber tubing, one Senko can last for many trips.

According to what I hear, their costs are real low.  My cousin's fiancees stepfather knows a guy who says Elasticel is made from Soylent Green...

I recently started using O-rings on soft plastic stick baits to avoid losing them all of the time.  I don't always use senko but I do sometimes and it seems like I burned through them much quicker than others so now I don't lose them at nearly the rate I used to.

well I didn't know that about them lasting longer,I just wacky rig them to get better action from a senko, they also work really great when you pop them.

From what I understand, and experienced, the o-rings will help a senko stay longer. If you put the hook thru the bait, it can tear super easily with the thrashing of a bass. With the o-ring, it can prevent the bait from being ripped as easily.

Thanks guys, that's what I was thinking but just wasn't for sure. I nabbed a few orings from work that we had laying around. Hopefully there a good size for a Senko.

Let us know how they work for you! I love hearing first person reports about how techniques work.

There is a o-ring size listed for each size Senko and a tool to install the o-rings available.

That on the pack of senkos? The orings i have are a little big I think. I can just roll them on.

With just one ring like to use 5/16" id on my 5" senkos. 1/4" seems to dig in the senko a bit much causing wear.

I actually use two rings and cross X them and put hook through both so hook sticks out from senko. When doing this I use one ring with 7/16id and the other 5/16id.

looks like this

2-011, 5/16 ID for 5" Senko

2-012, 3/8 ID for 6" Senko

2-013, 7/16 ID for 7" Senko

other brands may be different.

Tools and o-rings on Amazon or Ebay, TW, local tackle stores.

Sharpie pen top with the clip removed and filed smooth works as a tool.
