j bab Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 What is the best high performance, 8-strand "superline" type braid in your opinion, and why? Quote

Super User rippin-lips Posted September 3, 2016 Super User Posted September 3, 2016 My new favorite is Daiwa J braid. It's smooth, quiet, and cheap. I fish it along side of regular power pro,pp ss8, and 832. None have failed me and they all perform. 1 Quote

I have used Vicious, PP, 832, and FX2, of those that I have experience with I preferred the FX2 1 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 3, 2016 Super User Posted September 3, 2016 Seaguar Smackdown is perfectly uniform and slick:. Sufix 832 would be my second choice. 2 Quote
Jon G Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 832. My second choice would be Power Pro SS8 Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted September 4, 2016 Super User Posted September 4, 2016 been using Gamma torque braid , very soft like samuri and also been using 832 , but just spooled up some Sunline SX1 and i love it !! doesn't get fuzzy like power pro or get somewhat sticky like the 832 . think i'm gonna get a few more spools as this braid has all the attributes i've been looking for , if you haven't tried it yet , you might want to give it a try Quote
Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted September 4, 2016 Super User Posted September 4, 2016 here is my take on 3 of my most used this year being .011dia s8s gamma torque smackdown strenght/dia 1 2 3 quietness 1 2 2 price 2 1 3 subtleness 2 1 2 smoothness 1 3 2 bleed 1 2 3 Quote
blckshirt98 Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 832 for me. I tried the Power Pro SS8 and *hate* it - very prone to wind knots for me and once you get a wind knot on that line you pretty much have to cut it off. Quote
d-camarena Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 Maxcuatro is hands down the best. And ive tried every braid in the market. In my opinion anyways Quote

dwh4784 Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 I've never found any reason to switch from Spiderwire, I do like the Stealth better than the original though. I'm sure the other brands are great, but like I said just never had a reason to switch. 1 Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted September 4, 2016 Super User Posted September 4, 2016 I don't use much braid. I think Sufix Performance is a very good low cost option. I liked it better than the PowerPro Original that replaced it. I like Samurai for what little time I have used it. Probably should put some braid on another reel of two. Smackdown is sounding like a good braid to try. I've got some 30# 832 Ghost that came on an Alphas F. So far it has handled very well. Color doesn't fade either. 1 Quote
Mokujon Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Power Pro Maxcuatro or Seaguar Smackdown. 1 Quote
thebillsman Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Sunline FX2. The 50lb is thinner than any of its competitors, it keeps its color the best by far and it's incredibly strong. The winner for sure. 1 Quote
Jaderose Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 I use PPSS8. Love it and never saw any reason to change. Quote
timsford Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 I like 832, samurai, and j braid. Favorite is j braid because of price Quote
Quoc T Ho Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Haven't used many, only suffix 832 and power pro. Between the two I'm liking the 832 Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted September 6, 2016 Super User Posted September 6, 2016 I'm calling a tie between 832 and P-line X. I just started using FX2 this summer for my topwater/frog needs and I've been really impressed. All three of these lines are great. 1 Quote

SX1 ..... really not interested in trying the new TX & BX lines , as i don't like coatings on the line that stick , like 832 seems to do . Quote
Randy Mitten Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Hey everyone, Was called Stren Sonic Braid, smooth as silk and holds knots very well. 20lb size is 6lb mono diameter. They relabeled the box but the new Green and Black boxed Stren Braid is same exact line. Walmart sells it $12.00 for 330 yd spools. Oh in Lo-vis Green color. Spool up and cast away, bird nest free fishing. Quote
