Went fishing in the rain today, and this bass and catfish decided to fight over my torpedo.image.jpeg First time I've ever doubled up, and definitely my first time seeing a bass and catfish hit the same lure! *Both fish were returned to the water alive and swimming! Has anyone else ever seen this happen?

Bet you had a big smile when you reeled in 2 fish at once on your topwater!Yes ,I have caught 2 bass at once many times, especially on topwaters and jerkbaits.I can recall at least a couple instances I have caught 3 bass on a single jerkbait at the same time. The bass where small (under 18" each),but it was awesome seeing those 3 greedy little bass latched on my jerkbait.

When they hit, the entire surface just exploded, and I thought one bass had hit and missed the lure, then tried again. Once I felt the weight I thought I had a giant. Then as I was reeling them in I noticed the entire mass was spinning back to me. Kind of felt like a crank bait when the trebles get hung in the line. When I flipped them up to me over the bushes lining the bank I couldn't even process what I was seeing. The craziest thing to me was the catfish had both trebles! One in his mouth the other hooked on his side, and the bass only had one hook, and flopped off as soon as I landed them both. Just the wildest thing I've had happen to me yet while fishing. Made venturing out into the rain worth it!

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the catfish hit the bait first ! ?

I do believe he did and it was violent!

Got a two species double about eight years ago, on a jerkbait. 14" bass and an 18" crappie.

It felt like I had hooked a patch of weed. Almost no fight at all.

Let me regress to my fly fishing days for a moment. Caught a nice Brook trout and as I am reeling him in I see a flash heading toward the Brook trout. Something doesn't feel right so when I get him in there is a Brown trout attached to the Brook's underside and would not let go even when I put them in the net. Can't find the picture I have but it is a true story. Even had it in the Outdoor section of our local paper.

I did that once, but that was in my college days.

Wait....what?

I knew there was something I liked about those short shorts.  Bare knees are a window to the soul...

caught a double once but it was two white perch, on a single hook, i pulled them out of the water onto the dock and one fell off and started flopping around on the dock, the other was hooked in the mouth. i assume they were fighting over the nightcrawler and one just happened to hang on for the ride and let go once pulled out of water...
