Yackety Yak Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 I am near Arnold, MO - wondering where (what rivers) everyone hits for smallies. im fairly new to kayak fishing so looking for fishing buddy wanting to fish big river, and any others that hold em. Quote
MO_LMB Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Big, Meramec, Mineral Fork, Huzzah, James, lots of options Quote
quaternary_sloth Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Need to buy a kayak first but would be down for this, I live near Fenton. Never been smallie fishing at all, just LMB down at the Lake of the Ozarks in my (ex)father-in-laws boat. Have the fishing bug hard but no way/one to go with at the moment. Quote

A couple years back when I got my kayak, I got on the mo conservation web site and found quite a few smaller lakes to fish with my kayak. Great site. Quote

Super User scaleface Posted January 9, 2017 Super User Posted January 9, 2017 There are smallmouths in streams all over Missouri including the Mississippi not just the Ozarks . I fish a fantastic river for "big" fish but I keep it a to myself . Quote

evilcatfish Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Some good places to check out: ozarkanglers.com http://www.missourismallmouthalliance.org/ Both of these have Facebook pages as well. Also on Facebook search Ozarks Smallmouth Alliance and Ozark Regional Kayak Anglers Or: https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&rlz=1C1VFKB_enUS660US665&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=missouri smallmouth bass https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&rlz=1C1VFKB_enUS660US665&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=missouri+kayak+fishing 1 Quote
Hawghead Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 I'd check out ozark anglers forum. I, along with two of my brothers, have a SOT Kayak. Hit a lot of local lakes. I am further north in St. Charles. I head north and west for MDC owned lakes. My wife's sister and husband have a place on Lake of the Ozarks, which is once of my favorite places to fish. They live in a pretty good sized cove. I can slink around the docks in that cove for hours catching bass, and never need to hit any "big water" 1 Quote
Bwana71 Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 The Gasconade river is another excellent smallmouth river. Great river to float too. Just don't pick a Holliday weekend. Quote
fishingfuji Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 For river and stream smallies in this area I'd probably say that my favorite places would probably be the upper Meramec by Sullivan. I also like the Current and Jack's Fork as well. The problem with the last two is sometimes they are packed with floaters during the summer months which makes the fishing difficult. My experience is any of the bigger Ozark Scenic River Ways have great small mouth populations. Quote
