Super User geo g Posted September 27, 2023 Super User Posted September 27, 2023 I once caught a 5 pound bass with a water snake partially in its mouth. Taking my plyers I pulled out a half digested snake with the head still in tact just below the gill plates. Smelled like hell about 12" long. Quote
Super User king fisher Posted September 28, 2023 Super User Posted September 28, 2023 I have caught a fish with another lure in its mouth many times. One time a client caught a rainbow trout in a a heavily fished stream, and the trout had 6 nymphs all exactly the same. The sad thing was I didn't have any like that one in my fly box. Another time I caught a king salmon with a lure still attached to a line in its mouth. I pulled the line in, and their was a rod on the other end. Not a bad haul, a 35 pound salmon, rod, reel, line and lure. Unfortunately fish have taken way more lures, than I have found. Quote

thunderblack Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 I've caught a nice steelhead with someone's line a hook attached to a fin. Around here in the fall "fishing" is snagging as many salmon as possible while wearing neoprene waders and no shirt. A lot of fish have seen it all by the time they get up the river. Quote
thediscochef Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Ooo this is a good thread revival My PB smallie had someone's blue/white deep diving crankbait hooked in its lip, along with probably 10 yards of line. I had to let it swim me off a few snags with slack line before it could be landed. Whole thing took like five minutes maybe. PB+freebait. That aside I've caught two other bass at that spot with senkos in em, one in the gullet with a flipping hook, second in the other end. I snapped off on a log at this spot once, close to the bank but not close enough to get loose without a swim. Came back the next day to find a dink gullet hooked on it. Went for a swim. Removed all safely thanks to the hook removal guides here and began fishing more carefully to avoid more situations like that. My PB blue cat had a swimbait in its mouth that had been there long enough to have scar tissue encasing most of it. Would have done just as much or more harm than good to remove it so I left it alone. I don't snap off on fish hardly ever so I don't really find my own lures on them Quote
