Where to fish this

So I've found a new spot to fish, I've been told that there's 9+ lb bass here, which makes sense because it's purely catch and release on the bass to keep bait fish down. 

Problem is, nothing is very deep. Not much in the way of lay down. Even the vegetation is hard to come by along the shore. There is a few bridges that I've hit some small bass under. But I'm looking for those monsters. 

Now before someone just points out to fish the points let me point out most of those points have houses on them, and I'd basically have to be in their back yard to fish it.

If the wind has been blowing in the same direction for some time, I'd concentrate on where the water is being pushed under the bridges.  Those neck down areas will provide more current. The same goes for rain. The influx and out going water creates current with the bonus of water coming in to the pond having increased oxygen and nutrients. Lacking either of those situations, I'd concentrate on areas offering shade and cover.

LOL lemme see what I can do kinda thought the other way would be better to see where the water is.

Judging by the location I'm sure it's crazy over priced for some coffee. Probably don't even know what a coffee black means.

New Town in St. Charles?  That place is about 5 min from my house.  There are some canals that connect to the main lake, and some very shallow spots.  I use to take my daughters there to catch bluegill, and sunnies. 

Your biggest problem is not going to be what bait to throw, but a spot to fish in.  The main lake, that goes off to the west, is used for all types of water activity.  There are also a lot of houses that are right on the water, so if you are not careful you might be trespassing in someone's back yard.  If the road runs right next to the lake then you can fish there.

Right, I've been told soft plastic works best so that's what I throw. But getting places that not in someone's back yard makes it hard to find a good fishing spot. It all seems pretty shallow to me. The catfish there annoy me, they always try picking up my worm. I've been told the bass get big there, since it's all catch n release. So I can't help but keep going back. I'll land me a big one one of these days.

There ae untold numbers of ways to fish it

. A good way to cover water when bank fishing is to use sinking baits . My all time favorite are the old  Whopper Stopper Bayou Boogies but any lipless crankbait would work . I'd choose a silent one like the Red Eye Shad  . Cast to different depths , let the lure sink to the bottom and retrieve. take a few steps and repeat . Very simple .Other good baits to use with this technique are jig with a grub , it can be curly or paddle tail , beetle spin , Strike King Rocket Shad , and any of the various prerigged swimbaits like the ones from Storm , Berkeley ...  You will learn where any irregularities in the bottom are this way . Now , if you get snagged . Make a mental note , leave a marker of some kind  , so you can come back later and fish it thoroughly with a Texas rig .

My only concern with working the bottom like that is the stupid amount of catfish in this place. Nearly every worm I throw has been picked up by a cat, I go to set the hook then figure out what's hit my bait.

Dont know what to tell you then  . If i couldnt fish the bottom I would probably catch 90 per cent fewer fish .

You sure it's catfish? I have seen some big bluegill and crappie caught out of that lake.

Man, there's a area where someone's backyard is all a dump off of the lakes and I seen 30+ catfish in that one area 2 days ago, also the first day I went down seen a cat about 30inches long, not sure how much is weighed but it was a big one. I've had them pick at my worms all the time. 

I guess I should say that a resident also told me the cats are bad about doing that in the lakes there
