FloridaBass Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 New to bass fishing in general and I have never used a senko. I'm going to use a 4 inch or 5 inch. I bought a BPS "kit" which came with alot of them in all the most popular colors. Any recommendations, and does time of year have any relevance to colors I should use? Thanks Quote
Super User geo g Posted August 29, 2016 Super User Posted August 29, 2016 In clear to lightly stained water the watermelon shades are excellent all over the southeast. My persoal favorite is watermelon red. In dingy water I would go with Junebug. Junebug is also goo under low light conditions in all waters. I personally like the 4" sticko and senko products. I have caught a large number of bass on all sizes of these baits, including the jumbo size. Use as little weight as possible for the conditions. You will get more action out of the bait. Good luck buddy, its a great choice of baits. 4 Quote

diablojoe Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 I live in Florida also. I have caught a lot of fish this year my first year bass fishing. From my experience early morning has been great with black or junebug but one the sun hits the water I switch to green pumpkin or watermelon and have had success. 1 Quote
Swamp Rat Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Senko style baits are easy...you NEED 3 basic colors, a dark color, a light color, and a shock color, but you will BUY a jazillion...just sayin'. Dark = black/blue flake, junebug, black/red flake...any one of these will work for your dark color Light = watermelon, watermelon/red flake, watermelon/candy flake, green pumpkin, houdini, baby bass...any of these will work for your light color Shock = bubblegum, pearl white, chartreuse...again, any one of these will work Disclaimer...I run this style bait in 3", 4", 5.5", and 7" and have ALL of the colors listed above plus a few more...like I said, there is NEED and there is WANT...lol. 1 Quote

Acheron1377 Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 The previous comments are exactly right on the colors. My go to color is junebug for summer bass fishing here in Florida. The 4 inch seems to work the best even for larger fish. 1 Quote
BiteFiend Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 When I lived down there, my color choices for soft plastics were exactly what geo g said. The only exception being that on days where junebug wasn't getting bit, a different purple color would. 1 Quote
lmiller157 Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 I have had a bunch of success with white with blue flakes. No idea why, but it kills. 1 Quote
