GORDO Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 If you can get away with braid, throw braid. The question is why wouldnt you throw braid? You get a stronger line with a smaller diameter. The line has NO stretch and is more visible (IMO) making watching the line a little easier. If youre worried about the fish being line shy, tie a 12lb leader with your knot of choice. Fishing in lilly pads I like a stronger line in case you hook into that 5 pounder that you cant turn their head and wraps you around a base. It will buy you some time to chase into the pads and grab the fish before it breaks your off. 1 Quote

The first thing that crossed my mind before I posted was "will the braid affect the action of the senko?" A few years ago I had 10 or 15 lb braid on a spinning setup and caught fish, and I was too new to the bass fishing scene to even think about it ( which may have been a blessing.) I really like the way the flouro performed at the lake yesterday. 1 Quote
bigfruits Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 8lb Sniper or Tatsu if its on sale a little KVD l&l doesnt hurt. Quote
Loomis13 Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 I am partial to braid for everything..sure slack line sensitivity might not be there but it is no stretch so you can make up for some of that on the hook set. Quote

It just plays so much better. Bryans setup, the Avid X 6'8" Medium Extra Fast spinning rod with the RTX30 is so lightweight in your hand it is amazing The best I can do in that department is a MF 6'8 LTB with my MGX baitcaster (once it arrives.) I have an old ugly stik 6'6 ish spinning rod, that I would need a reel for if I wanted to do spinning. Quote

Even then Ill just tie leaders if the water is super clear. Ive not noticed a difference in the action with using straight braid or floro. If anything, I prefer it over floro just because of the line memory. Its frustrating have 15lb line that looks like a slinky because the bait weighs basically nothing lol Quote

I did notice that the flouro started sinking right away, which when you are fishing from shore and casting towards the weed edge, it seems like you would want the senko to sink as fast as it possibly can ( while still being weightless) in order to get it in front of the fish and preventing it from laying on the weed edge. I guess the only way I'll know is to spool one setup with braid and spool another with flouro and see which I like best. 1 Quote

FC really shines on this slack line presentation IMO. try it once if you havent. 1 Quote
GORDO Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 @stk44 Im assuming youre t-rigging the senko right? Quote

I just can't seem to get past the stretch of any other kind line except braid..maybe I'll learn someday. Quote
