I got a scalp sunburn one time with a mesh baseball cap. The next day I went and got a buff. I wear it under my cap so it covers the top of my head and I pull it up so it covers my face. No more scalp sunburns. This set up compared to a non-mesh baseball cap is much cooler temp wise. Looks kind of silly but gets the job done. Just don't walk into a gas station with your buff pulled up.

Keeps my hat on better.  Don't have to take it off on boat runs!  And it does stay up, but I don't know about better because I have never worn it under the hat!

Buff, long sleeves, long pants and sun gloves for me!

Ah, I see. It's gotta be that 00 -- keeping the hat from flying off during boat runs. No wonder I never understood. My hat has no problem staying on when I run from one end of the pond to the other

I started wearing one this year when I'm out on the water.  I also wear it while working out in the yard and cutting the grass.

I fish subdivision ponds at dawn and dusk and this is what I look like even when it's 80 degrees out. Freaking mosquitoes.

Never had a fly or mosquito explode on me yet but I suppose you just never know.  ;  )

Honestly, I don't find wearing the hood up (9AM to 5PM most every day) any hotter than having it down.  I still need to use sunscreen on my face, ears, hands, etc..(and ankles), but I'm a fan of the summer hoodie and on the lookout for other kinds to compare.

I have the Cabelas version of this and cant recomend it enough.  With a tank top on underneath it is almost as cool as a tshirt and I have found that if i wear a ball cap the hood stretches out far enough that I don't even get sun on my face.

I own three and never ever fish without them.   Don't mess with UV rays!  They also keep the bugs and mosquitos away.   Original Buff did recently introduce an XL size buff if the original ones feel too constricting.

I wore a buff for about a year, but, I had problems with it fogging up every pair of sunglasses I wear. Instead I just wear my hat and deal with sunburn. I know, skin cancerarrow-10x10.png and all that, but, sun burn doesn't really bother me: I got dark Cajun skin that takes the sun like a champ.

They look kinda warm.  Are they?  Are they uncomfortable fitting?

They're just polyester so I wouldn't call them warm, but they do take some of the wind chill away and when you pull them up over your ears they prevent your ears from getting numb.  Polyester is the perfect material for these things - they do enough to keep the chill out, but when it gets hot will wick moisture away and dry quickly so they will actually make you feel cool.  I have polyester shirts for the gym and fishing and they do a great job of wicking away sweat and not making you feel "hot" even if it's 90+ degrees outside.

Some buffs can be uncomfortable because of size/fitting, they're just an elastic tube so if you have a large head or large neck they can feel tight and constricting.  Check out the Original Buff XL size buffs for a looser fitting buff.

i normally wear one just because i can throw it in the water if it's hot and have it soaked and cool me down a bit

Kinda like Star Trek and the Borg.. Resistance is futile... You will be assimilated.

I always have one on. It does help with the flies and hydrilla gnats. I hate those things around my nose or ears.

Any brands that have holes for your nose? I hate how they fog my glasses up if pulled over my nose. I wear one every time out. Gloves and sleeves too if im not wearing long sleeves.
