Super User 00 mod Posted August 28, 2016 Super User Posted August 28, 2016 Does anyone else experience a huge adrenaline rush or almost "high" from fishing. Like a giant strike, or a big one jumping? Or once you have landed that giant bass- not being able to stay still? Shaking? It is what keeps me going back. I had this happen last night, and was able to capture it in picture form. Noticed it today when looking through pics. I was shaking so hard while trying to take this pic, my Iphone6 auto focus couldn't hang! HAHA Thought she was a DD.......(check the far left side of the fish) Jeff 10 Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted August 28, 2016 Super User Posted August 28, 2016 Another nice pig 00. Congrats!! .... and yes, I know exactly what your saying about the adrenaline after you land a very nice catch. 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted August 28, 2016 Super User Posted August 28, 2016 Trying to be calm, collected and under control after sticking a giant bass during the fight takes practice. Staying clam after the bass is in the boat is impossible do to the adrenalin rush. Nice bass Jeff, interesting photo image. Tom 2 Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted August 28, 2016 Super User Posted August 28, 2016 I don't usually shake when I catch a good one, but if I'm in a tournament, or if the fish is a true giant (see avatar), I shake like a leaf. My most recent experience with the jitters was when I caught a fish over 5lbs, on a drop shot, with 8lb test leader, on Kentucky Lake, on the final day of the high school national championship. She ran around a stickup and I had to chase her down and unwrap her, then she jumped 4 times after that. When I held the fish, I turned and said to my partner "We might have a shot at this thing". Nothing better! 3 Quote
shimmy Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 All the time. I couldn't even speak coherently after each big fish in Mexico. For me, one of my main weird side effects is I can't fish after catching a big one for a bit since I have to be opening the livewell and stare at the fish. This can last on and off for the next 30 minutes. It's like having a brand new car. You just want to sit on your porch and stare at it. Furthermore, every fish that might be over 6 pounds, I get shakey...you don't want to jinx it, but just stare at the thing...and shake and shimmy. 3 Quote
Burtonxj Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 I shake like a d**n leaf. Usually need a couple minutes to calm myself down after I release the fish. If I'm fishing solo and nail a good one I can barely even take the picture, there is an iPhone 6 somewhere on the Upper Potomac because of it. Love it. 2 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted August 29, 2016 Super User Posted August 29, 2016 You know it Jeff ~ But I have discovered what really helps calm me down Hot Cheese Nacho's & a Frozen Margarita . . A-Jay 1 Quote
Airman4754 Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 If it's over 6lbs I get shaky. That's a beast in these parts. 1 Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted August 29, 2016 Super User Posted August 29, 2016 Congratulations, that is a big bass no matter where it was caught.Yes I get that feeling you mentioned often when I land a +8lb bass,or catch a large saltwater gamefish.I also get what's called "runners high" when doing long distance runs, powerlifting,or other sports that I do.It must be the inner athlete in all of us that make us push ourselves so hard to beat our past accomplishments! 1 Quote
iiTzChunky Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 I get a little high when I feel that bite and set the hook then when I get a good sized fish on the end I get about as excited as little kid coming down stairs on Christmas morning 1 Quote
Super User MassYak85 Posted August 29, 2016 Super User Posted August 29, 2016 After catching a good one I definitely get a buzz for probably 20 minutes, and for the next few hours even I am in a very good mood. 2 Quote

Pff I got a 2 lb bass yesterday on my new bass pro qualifier set up and I'm still in a good mood about it. I typically don't catch fish that size out in my area. There's so much pressure it's hard for them to get big enough without being caught and taken out. 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted August 29, 2016 Super User Posted August 29, 2016 When I catch a nice one, I am pumped for the rest of day. Doesn't matter if I am still on the water or not. 1 Quote
jleonard91 Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Nothing better than the adrenaline rush of a decent one blowing up on your top water you are slowly working across the surface. Had a good 3lb destroy a jitterbug last night. Still thinking about that feeling this morning. 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted August 29, 2016 Super User Posted August 29, 2016 Nice Hawg right there! I remember a tournament were Rick Clunn caught a 10# kicker, once the fish was in the boat he laid down on the back deck looks at the cameraman & says, you wanted to know when I'm gonna retire? Holding both shaking hands out, when that stops! 3 Quote
frogflogger Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 If I didn't get excited I'd quit fishing 1 Quote

Super User WIGuide Posted August 29, 2016 Super User Posted August 29, 2016 It definitely happens to me no matter how much I fish. There's always a thrill involved with catching a big one, and if that doesn't get you going, you might as well stop fishing. 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted August 29, 2016 Super User Posted August 29, 2016 I dont get shaky , but I have never caught a really huge bass . I imagine 10 lb bass would get the adrenaline pumping . 1 Quote
GORDO Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 There has only been 2 times that I have ever started shaking from seeing catching a fish. When I saw the 43" Northern Pike (my first one ever) with my jerk bait hanging out of its mouth and when the 6lb smallie jumped 3 feet out of the water! Both times, I started shaking like a wet dog. Many other times I have been so full of joy I have started running around the bank or yelling like Ike lol if you dont get fired up from catching a nice fish, why are you even out there? 1 Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted August 29, 2016 Super User Posted August 29, 2016 it's what keeps me coming back man! 1 Quote
Super User fishinfiend Posted August 29, 2016 Super User Posted August 29, 2016 oh ya all the time. I love it !! 1 Quote
BiteFiend Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Yay, my username is relevant to the topic!! I get a small rush when reeling a bass in that's not dink sized. I can feel my heart beat a little faster, but no shaking, no "oh my gosh" coming out of my mouth, etc. When I am reeling in a bass over 5 lbs (which is considered big around these parts), I get an adrenaline rush; my heart pounds, I start feeling a little shaky, and I breath heavy. I love that feeling. There is no rush quite like it. 1 Quote
"hamma" Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 For sure! I dont think i'd be fishing anymore if I didn't get the shakes, and it used to be like many stated, It takes a 6 or better, but nowadays it depends on the line im using. One particular day last year I was out on my small basshunter and staring at the skunks tail. So I put down the flippin stick, and picked up my light action 5'6" berkley Liteline series rod with a 1000 shimano reel spooled with 6 lb test stren and started tossing a 1/8 oz pins minnow around looking for some whitebass and perch. I got a few, and its alot of fun to catch them on that rod, then when I cast next to a downed tree, a big bass sucked it under before I got the first twitch in. I battled that fish for about a half hour. It first went deep, then back towards that tree, and back out deep, this time it stayed deep but was heading for the even deeper weeds and then around a well known boulder. Every piece of cover it headed for, I begged and pleaded to god "please let me lip this pig" I did all I could do, played that fish like a fine tuned fiddle, and finally,...I got my thumb on its lower lip, and yelped so loud it echoed around the lake. (im loud anyways) YYEEEEEHHHHAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!.,... People came out of their homes, and down on their docks to see what the commotion was about, other boaters cruised slowly by, as I was trembling to get the pliers on the lures hooks to remove them.(Its a small lake,) and it took a while as I was shakin so much. Finally I weighed it out to be 7.2 and let her go. I sat there for about another half hour just composing myself, smoked a couple cigarettes, and thought to myself. "thats almost better than sex". Just the idea I exceeded the lines rating and succeeded, kept me in a good mood for the next week,..I didnt sleep much that night either. Thing is, I woulda still been shakin if it was a 5+ on that setup. I think that now when my limits are tested, it triggers that rush. If I were to catch that fish on my flippin stick with 12 pd test I would of been happy, and said niiiicccce fish!!, and slipped her back, with a good mood about me, and maybe a smaller rush. But to get her on a tiny light action rod? Really fired me up, probably because I know that many years ago,... I woulda lost that fish. Adrenaline rush?,.... thats what hooks us all. 2 Quote
