I have a friend who has as squirrel dog and he says she trees maybe one a trip. I told him he'd see a lot more of them if he just sat still on a log.

Squirrel hunting is my addiction. To me there is nothing better than chasing squirrel dogs around the timber. It's very addictive.

I enjoy a nice hike with a nice and light 20 ga or .22 over any other kind of hunting. When I can't make up my mind, I have a 20 ga/.22 mag over/under.

Some of the best hunting if you have a good dog. No fun at all for me without a dog.

I am not a good still hunter.

I use a 12 gauge #7 now days cause my eyesight isn't what it once was.I used to use my 22 and just use the sight. There were times I'd use a scope though .

I have a 410 too, and that's the grandkids gun if one of them tags Along.

These squirrels get moderate pressure so they are often harder to slip up on. I can reach out to them well with the 12 ,and rarely miss.

You just have to watch for the pellets when you clean AND when you eat em.

I love a slow stalk technique for squirrels.Have not got a dog at present. What kind of dogs do y'all hunt with? My friend had a border collie mix that was named " speedy " cause he could actually run down and catch squirrels.

New to hunting (yet to get a gun yet), but intrigued by squirrel hunting. I've had it at game dinners, and it's just fine for me. More about honing my skills and hitting something small at first. Excited to get out this year.

It's the only type of hunting I really enjoy. Just sitting around Deer or Turkey hunting is no fun for me. I always wait for the cooler weather in Fall though, I never understood why squirrel season started in Summer.

Squirrel season starts in August here, which I think is just crazy.

Yeah that does seem strange. Our part of Florida starts in Nov. and ends in feb.( for small game ) and each public management area may have different dates.
