What is the best way to fish a Scrounger Jig?

I am trying to consolidate some tackle, and I have some scroungers that I have only used a few times and kind of forgot about them. I have tried them with a fluke on the back but never really took the time to figure out how to fish them. What works best, Retrieve it like a Bladed Jig? Shaky head? I have read that the Scrounger can be very effective & I want to try them again before putting them away.

What is the best trailer to use, skirt or no skirt, any suggestions would be helpful since I have never caught a fish on one. I have a pair in each size, 2 with skirts, and one is the swimming Hornet version. I have to think these work well right?

just a solid steady retrieve or kind of yo-yo them is how i've fished them.  but i admit i've never caught much on them.

When I use a scrounger it's usually when I want a tight wild action with no flash, and that is usually when I'm having no luck with a spinnerbait. My trailer of choice is a chartreuse Sluggo. I have other colors but down here for me that long chartreuse tail just wiggling around has saved my day more than once.

I tried them again this morning on light line and a few different trailers and I did have a good strike that I missed when I was just crawling it along when the fishing had died,, and I like the idea of a sluggo or regular fluke style bait. It looks awesome, I am sure it works like anything else once you figure out when to use it, and have some confidence.

I think I misunderstood how this bait is best used and when, I watched some videos and read some articles by Aaron Martins which helped me understand some concepts. Some of these Pro's and even regular guys really do a great job of making videos that really help. You Tube is such a great thing to have available.

Slug Go's, Senko's, Fluke's...all make great trailers for a scrounger head.

Best trailer for a scrounger jig is a 6" or 9" Slug-Go. Fish it slowly crawling on the bottom.

Agree that the Sluggo is a good trailer on 3/8 to 1+ oz Scroungers (Tremor heads) not a fan of the smaller Scroungers. I also like SK Ocho for a trailer when fishing the Scrounger slower, like the Sluggo for a tighter wiggle most of the time.

Yep, the Devil Spear is my favorite. 

The Tiki Shad is awesome too.

I'm the minority.  I use a 5 inch Netbait boot tail swimbait.  That set up produced some great bites at Clear Lake when slow rolled.

I want to go fishing right now...Awesome Fish...I have used them with a small sluggo and fluke and have managed to have some success by slowing down and just fishing it slowly since it is pretty good around structure and weeds.

Do all the blades turn Brown/yellow color, I guess that is ok since it is plastic?

Are you using the 5" Wave Brand Tiki Shad in the standard 5" size? I think that is the size I have. I notice your's have turned Yellow as well, I like the idea of the Sideways Devil Spear, Kind of like a chatterbait the way you have them set up. I noticed the other day with a super fluke I could reel it slow and steady like a chatterbait and I had a few Fish take it when conditions were tough. I guess yellow is ok then? Just normal part of plastic getting stained, I was wondering if that was going to be an issue.

I like the way that Razor shad Looks. I have not tried that yet but I like the Z-man stuff. I guess I was going to small with baits, I notice bigger baits seem to work better at least now. I will try the 2 baits mentioned...Good stuff. Thanks.
