Hi there,

I want to get into Glide Bait fishing this year.

I already have a Jackall Gantaral (Blue Gill). But I would like to get 1 or 2 more.

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

I have had my best luck with a river2sea 168S S Waver.

What type of tackle do you have and lure weight limit?

Sorry, should have mentioned this!
I would throw the Glide Bait on my swimbait set up (Phenix Rods M1 Inshore, Lews Inshore BB2, 25 pounds AbrazX). I can eaily throw up to 6 oz swimbaits with it.

Thanks for the help!

Both 168 and 200 size S Wavers are good glide baits to start with.

The 22nd Century Triple Trout isn't classified as a glide bait but works good gliding or swimming. The 8" slow sink would be good.

ABT 7" glide bait is heavy but works good.

Thank you sir for your feedback!

I think I am gonna pick two of the 168s.

Any particular recommendation on colors? I am in Northern Cali (the lakes here have Blue Gill and Shad)

R2Sea colors are very vibrant if you haven't looked at them in person.

Baby bass could easily pass for both crappie and baby bass, so that is a good choice.

Bone isn't available in 168,  the albalone shad should work for you in the 168 size.

I don't believe bluegill are a primary baitfish for bass when they get over 5". Bluegill swimbaits work during the spawning cycle because they are egg eater that bass kill. Crappie are easier for bass to eat and overlooked by bass anglers as a baitfish.

Good luck.

I can't catch a cold with my 168 or 200 s-wavers, I must be doing something wrong. But a triple trout is a must, i catch fish on my triple trouts 10:1 over my other swimbaits

I prefer fishing with swimmer in lieu of glides because you can do more with them. The only retreive that seems to work for me S-Wavers is a slow motion side sweep we here the rod tip is held about 45 degrees pointing towards to lure parelell to the water surface and sweep back another 45 degrees in a downward motion, take the slack as the lure glides and repeat. I learned not to over fish these lures or make side to side sweeps....let the lure do it's own motion.

No, you want the slow sinking model.

I have the 168 in baby bass and hitch. I have never caught a bass on either but the Pike love them. If you have a lot of northerns in your water, I would use a leader.

The Savage Gear Shine Glide 180 is a nice bait. I've caught more fish on a Deps Slide Swimmer 175 than any other. Recently bought one of the new Livingston Lures B Vipers and really like the profile and glide of the thing. Hasn't gotten much use yet but I could see it really producing well.

I just got into swim bait fishing and here are some customs I started out with.

My favorite are the ABT Suicide Glides. The 7" have a pretty small profile, but the 9" are a big bait.

The Jackall Gantarel is the best sunfish I've seen in action.

The perch S-Waver is cheap and catches fish.

Duckett has a new one out too. I have one on the way, it should be in the same league as an S-Waver. A buddy if mine caught a 10lb spot on a GanCraft and he swears by them.

I fish the 168-River2Sea S-Waver in Lite Trout and Party Crasher...Let the bait sink and it will sit on the bottom perfectly upright like a fish resting on its belly. Then you can play with how to pull it up off the bottom to trigger the bite of a potential fish checking it out down in the depths.
