I have a 3 year old used Minn Kota Fortrex that I don't need anymore. I will also most likely be getting a new Ulterra if I'm lucky and will need to sell the Terrova that it is replacing also. I checked Craigslist and didn't see any for sale which makes me think that people aren't selling their used ones there. Where are they selling them? Marine Dealerships? I've seen a few for sale at one or two dealerships. Is selling one to a Marine dealership usually a rip-off?

Where's the best place to sell used trolling motors?

Put an ad on here or ***.

I'd have to ship it to someone, wouldn't that get awfully expensive?

What word did you have that got blurred out?

That would be up to the buyer if they wanted to pay to have it shipped. Put your location in the ad and it's up to them if they want to pick it up. The *** is apparently a site that we shouldn't mention on here, so I won't. But it's another big bass fishing website.

Shipping is going to be an issue unless you sell it locally. I would place an ad in the classified section of your local newspaper.

I am not sure if you are on Facebook or not - or what part of the country you are in, which might have an impact - but I am part of a few facebook groups that are dedicated to marine items from boats, to accessories, motors, trolling motors, fishing poles - it might be worth a shot to look, and chances are they will be local for you and they can meet you somewhere to pick it up.  Just a thought - I am very active on our local marine facebook groups...a lot of good deals and a lot of money made there.

List it on Craigslist under "boat parts".   If you wish you can list it as local pickup preferred or let the buyer ask about either shipping or meeting you somewhere. I sold one that way, but I met him in a busy parking lot halfway between him and me. You have to think about safety these days. I did not mind driving to our meeting place because I chose the parking lot of a Cabelas. LOL.

Put it on craigslist. The reason you aren't seeing them on there aren't because people don't sell them on there, It's just not something that you sell super often. People either get a new one because their old one is shot, or because they upgraded. The later instance is usually the only time you'll see them listed so it's not as common. You could also try selling it on facebook, or get a hold of someone in a bass club and see if any of their members are interested.

Good idea. It's gotten so crazy police departments let people do CL exchanges at the precinct for people's safety.

Craigslist...in the spring or early summer.

...and price it to sell.  You want it priced so that whoever buys it feels like they got a deal and you get enough out of it to feel good.

E-Bay is an alternative, but make sure you are crystal clear that any sale does not include shipping and that it will be actual shipping costs, not estimated.  a trilling motor is going to be oversized, and just getting a box for it is not going to be cheap, nor is protecting it during shipping.
