I purchased a new Tracker pro 190 back in May and have recently been having issues with the Lowrance Elite 3x it came with. When i power the unit off it immediately comes back on. The only way i can get it to stay off is to unplug it. Anyone else have a similar issue with theirs? Being its this new, can it be sent to Lowrance for repair or replacement?

Same boat, same unit. Same deal... On the Elite 3x I don't think we have the shutdown menu mentioned in Glenn's video.  I hold the power button for 5 seconds to power it down for good.

On the Lowrance units I have had you must hold the power button depressed for a few seconds to power it down.

I was able to power it down like that previously, now it just powers right back up. And to top that off, while fishing today it somehow fogged up as though it's gotten moisture inside it and I cant even see the display now.

I dunno. You can do what I plan on: Buying a Humminbird Helix 7 SI and chucking that Lowrance 3x into the lake.

I'm definitely going to get a new unit but haven't decided on what I want yet. Still doing my research on different ones. I'm in awe of what I've seen from the 360s though. Just can't afford that kind of coin right now.

Now there's a thought.....spend 3 times the money and get twice the unit. At least you could compare like product.

I don't understand the point you're trying to make.

As far as I can tell, the Helix 7 SI is a superior unit all around compared to the Lowrance 3x.  The Helix has a larger screen, side imaging + down imaging, GPS and chartplotting. The Lowrance 3x offers down imaging at least half the time it is powered on... So yes, the cost is higher, but you're getting *a bit* more than twice the unit...

If you don't like the Helix 7 SI, what do you suggest?

My point is that ANY 7" model is quite a bit more than any 3". Seems the only problem the OP posted on was a powering on/off issue. He said nothing about screen size. I think, since he only has the one unit, he would be well served with either the HOOK serie or the Elite-TI series. These are designed to be 'stand-alone' units and are mainly differentiated by screen size only, within each series. Then the OP could decide if he wanted a 7" screen.

It is brand new so he could take it back for replacement or, he could call Lowrance Customer Service at 800-628-4487 to see IF he could upgrade his 3" to a larger unit at a reduced price.

That is an option, sure. Another equally valid opinion/option is to go bigger and better. Or as the OP mentioned, go really big with the 360 scan capable units.
