Super User fishwizzard Posted August 20, 2016 Super User Posted August 20, 2016 Hi, I am looking to start making small inline spinners for perch fishing over the winter. My plan is to make them using tungsten worm weights as a body to allow me to have a very compact lure that has enough weight to cast far under docks and to stay down when reeled quickly. I want to make them small with #8 Mustad single hooks and a simple hair skirt. My hope is to make a lure the rough size of say a Mepps 1/16oz spinner but closer to 1/8-3/16oz in total weight. I am looking for some guidance on what wire form tool to buy for this project. I am only going to make a dozen or so to test, so I don't need the best on the market, but I would like something well made and non-frustrating to use. Thanks Quote

Dave A Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 I like my Hagen's. I also like the other one from Hagens that allow you to make safety pin-style loops in wire, like on the beetle spin wire. You can also get wire in bulk from them to save a little$. Hope this helps, Dave Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted August 21, 2016 Super User Posted August 21, 2016 I have a Hagen's and if you were going to do multiple sizes with multiple sizes of wire then that is what I'd recommend. Since you are only making the smaller type I'd go for a Twistech wire former, easy to use and a little less expensive. Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted August 21, 2016 Author Super User Posted August 21, 2016 Thanks for the input guys, I was leaning towards the Twistech, it looks like that might be a good choice. I'll post some pics once I get a few built. Quote
