Yamaha 225 V-Max Outboards

Just want some info on the Yamaha V-Max motors good/bad ?

I have ridden in boats with the ETEC, V-Max, and PROMAX. Rating 10-ETEC 9-VMAX 6-PROMAX

V-Max's are solid and dependable.  Very nice motor.

I read an article someplace, but I can't remember where.  But it said the VMAX is a gas hog, and the HDPI is the right choice.   This article said the VMAX would go through 50 gallons of gas, while the YAMAHA HDPI would eat up around 25-30 gallons on the same run.
