Luna2406 Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Jacob Wheeler, Mike Iaconelli, and Adrian Avena signed my rod today. I need help tho, how can I seal them onto my pole. Clear nail polish didn't work, began smearing so I quickly stopped. Any ideas!? Quote
Super User gulfcaptain Posted August 20, 2016 Super User Posted August 20, 2016 You could try a clear coat spray paint, clear epoxy resin, or something along that line. I would use something to test each before acctually using it on the rod. That way you know which one will not cause the ink to run and ruin the signatures. 1 Quote
Rick Howard Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 CA glue might be good. It dries quick and clear. If your going to use the rod than you may want to get some flexible CA glue. Quote

Super User Darren. Posted August 20, 2016 Super User Posted August 20, 2016 Once you figure it out, hang up the rod and don't use it anymore! When I was about 9 years old I got Bob Feller to autograph a baseball for me. When I was 12, my friends and I needed a baseball to play with. The only one I could find was the Bob Feller one on my dresser. Needless to say, His autograph didn't last long. 1 Quote

The trick it to not wipe it and not try to cover it all at once. It dries so fast it will smoke. Try to keep the smoke out of your eyes and nose because it's like a onion on steroids. This also means you will use several q-tips to cover the signature. Keep the q-tip wet and work quick and careful. Maybe practice on something else a few times to get the feel for it. i use this stuff to cover my signature on wood turnings. I have used it on no pours surfaces like corian with success. This stuff is on the brittle side so if your planning to use the rod you may want to consider something else. There are flexible CA glues out there but I have not used them. If your not going to use the rod maybe covering them to preserve isn't the best coarse of action anyway. I would build a box with a glass top and hang it on the wall. Quote
Luna2406 Posted August 21, 2016 Author Posted August 21, 2016 So I ended up buying a spray sealant that is also water proof. I've put a good number of coats on it and it did not run or smudge. @Darren. I'm gonna try not to use it for baseball haha 1 Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted August 22, 2016 Super User Posted August 22, 2016 thread wrap finish. I got Gary Loomis to sign my NFC back in 2012 and I applied a coat of finish over it to protect it. 1 Quote
