Megabass Pop Max Colors?

What colors are best for the Megabass Pop Max? Right now I'm going to get just 1 but would like to at some point get a 2nd one too. I really like the Pumpkinseed color as I think that looks more like the perch in my area than the Megabass perch color. The others that look good are the Tonsoma/Mat Frog and the White Python.

I have the black orochi and it has done me well.  I honestly don't get too worked up over colors for topwater baits other than is it light or a dark colored bait.  Also be sure to look at the belly as that is probably the majority of what the fish will see.

Whatever you do DON'T go on flea Bay and look at all the limited and specialty patterns!

I also thought the Pumpkinseed color looked like a good match for local bait.  I bought one, brought it out fishing, and on the FIRST cast, a big Northern Pike ate it.  I barely felt a tug and it was gone.  I have other Megabass baits and are afraid to throw them most of the time.  They sure look pretty in my tackle box, though!  ;-)

Why? Is it just because they are outrageously over-priced or are they fakes? Some seem reasonably priced at around $20 but it is sketchy when buying from international sellers.

Yeah, luckily most of the ponds/lakes I fish locally don't have Northern's...just bass and maybe some chain pickeral so I should be okay .

I also don't think color matters much for topwaters....it's all about the action and the opportunity.  But I don't think anybody else makes a color quite like Black Orochi, so you know you gotta have it. I have that one and the Frog.  You could probably paint one to look like a twig and catch just as many fish.

Get black orochi and white Python, and you will have all the colors you will ever need. 

Now, having all the colors you will ever want, well that's a different story!

Pickerel and Musky are a part of the pike family. So there's no difference as far as them cutting your line and swimming away with your pop max.    It's just a part of the game with toothy fish. Bye bye $20

So, tell us, honestly, which ones you liked ?

Well those are the best.

Personally I don't fish with mine, I like them too much and I want to keep them the way they are ( Tonosama Frog, GG Gill, CMF, GG Bass ) Rapala's Skitter Pops cost 1/3 and catch a truckload of fish when the conditions/locations for poppers are all right.

So I obviously would want to fish with these lures...I don't want to just put them on display. My spinning reel can handle up to 65lb. braid...would that give me a better chance of keeping the lure even if something big and toothy got a hold of it?

i have found that toothy critters bit through braid easily no matter the weight.  Heavier is a little harder but it still doesn't beat the bite resistance of nylon lines.  I currently throw mine on yozuri hybrid.  The first one i had a pickerel bit me off when using braid, and i saw him jumping around for a while with the bait still in his mouth but i never saw the bait floating or anything so he has some new lip jewelry for a while i guess.

Any member of the pike family will cut braid like nothing. I use sufix seige and have caught pickerel and musky on my pop Max and pop x .

The colors I like are white python, black orochi and gg bass

The other two members already answered, but braid is the easiest for them to cut through. Tie on a leader of #15-20 and it'll offer some protection.

OIC...so right now I have on 15lb. Sufix Superior nylon line...I should just stick with that then?

So would the 15lb Sufix Superior nylon I have on now be sufficient?

Also, because fish will generally be seeing the lure from the bottom would a color like Perch or Pumpkinseed be considered the "light" lure because the bellies are mostly lighter looking? Than maybe a Black Orochi for the dark lure.
