Garcia Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 How many of you guys custom paint crankbaits? Do you think custom cranks catch more fish? Quote
BobP Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 Yes, if it's a special color scheme that is known to be "hot" on a particular body of water. I've been making, painting and fishing crankbaits for 16 years. My own view is that depth, action, visibility, and size are usually more important to bass than is the color scheme - which is an attractant to fishermen more than it is to bass. But color scheme can be important if it instils a sense of confidence in the fisherman. 1 Quote

nrivergeek Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 I Make most of my own tackle in general .. cheaper, and can do it how I want.. crankbaits I buy unpainted cranks and paint them and repaint old lures found.. as well as make balsa and cedar crankbaits..and yes custom does catch more .. If won many tournaments on my own handmade cranks.. fished right behind other boats that where fishing a variety of jigs and cranks.. they caught none or a couple dinks .. I came through and caught 30 lb bag in the same area lol .. so yes custom can be better , sometimes its the small differences.. vibration different something that the fish in the area have never seen.. here is a couple of mne.. the group of four are balsa, the other is a unpainted bait I buy 1 Quote
