What line for plastics & jigs on a bait caster?

Picking up a new rod and reel tonight (curado & mojo) and was wanting to get some line for it. I'm gonna be running this pole mainly on plastics, but I am not sure what line to use. Most places I fish are heavily covered in weeds ect & are not very clear. New to bass fishing so any tips will help! I've used braid, mono, and Fluro before so I'm no stranger to any.

I use Yo-Zuri hybrid for everything now. Break strength is must higher than listed. With line conditioner its my new favorite line because of price and performance

Heavy weeds and low visibility? Sounds like braid to me.

I was thinking braid but was not sure. I enjoy fluoro but the stuff I had before seem to be pretty bad. broke a lot and had just bad luck with it. think it was P line. The only braid locally available to me right now is p line braid, power pro, & suffix 832 I believe. Fluoros available are sun line sniper, seaguar invizx and abrazx, along with some P line stuff. Mono is stren, spider, & p line mainly if I remember correctly.

If I were to go braid, what lb would I use? along with mono or fluoro? bass fishing is a whole new game to me and want to get things set up correctly.

I can always order online but I am going out to the local place tomorrow with some friends for a day of fishin.

i'd opt for braid myself and would look at probably 40lb as a "happy medium".  it's not that you need 40lb line strength either, it's just that the diameter will be better suited for the casting reel.  i use power pro primarily, but the suffix 832 is good stuff too, just usually more expensive than power pro.

I'd go braid if I were you.  I have one rod with 40lb braid and another with 15lb FC.

In thick vegetation I use 65lb Power Pro.

In the river I use 12lb Trilene XT (plastics dedicated rod).

The braid is on a 6' MH/F that's a bit more whippy than most.

The Trilene is on a high modulus 6'6" MH/F.

Both have modified 5500c3 reels for winching power. It's my technique to use a combination rod lift/reel winch to get bass out of cover quickly. Many here disagree with this approach but it works well for me. If I were NOT using the reel to winch, I'd move the thick vegetation rod up to a H/F.

In heavy weeds I'd go with braid. I'd also pick 40lb because of the diameter so it won't dig in on your baitcaster. Out of the lines you list locally available I'd go with suffix 832. If for some reason you find yourself around less cover and/or clear water, you can always use a 12-20 lb fluorocarbon leader

If you are considering braid look at Finns Wind-tamer 40 lb braid. I use Finns braid because the color doesn't run, the line is quite going through guides. I have had Finns PRT 65 lb braid on my flipping and frog reel for over 5 years, great line.

If you are learning to cast a baitcasting reel I suggest using either 12 or 15 lb Trilene Big Game mono line, it's inexpensive and a good casting line. Braids can be difficult to learn to cast with because of deep backlashes. If braid is the choice use a 50 to 60 yard top shot on a mono base.

I dont fish heavy weeds very often .I use 17 lb trilene xl clear blue fluorescent . I like the visibility oc CBF and the diameter is only .015 . Its strong pretty strong and manageable .

If you can get Power Pro Spectra braid in 40 pound test it is equal to 10 pound diameter. That will work well. The Sufix 832 is just as good. I fish both the 832 in lime green and Power Pro Spectra in Moss green. You mentioned you had tried P Line, I like P Line but it takes getting the right line for the right job. P Line Halo is amazing Fluro, one of the most abrasion resistant fluoros, but that means it is a bit stiff. Never use any Halo above 8 pound test on a 3000 size spinning reel. If you use 10, 12, or 17 on a baitcaster it will be great, but it is recommended to stretch the line out before using it if it sits on the reel for a long time. Also line conditioner help too.  One thing for sure it hold up to the rigors of  fishing and it is tough. I dare you to try to cut through 8 pound test with your teeth, it is not happening.  I also like 10 # P Line Cxx in moss green for leaders. That is a way you can alter your presentation if you need to, when using braid. Lastly spool 1/2 your reel with a quality mono like Strem. It will tighten down tight to the reel arbor and also give a smooth backing to the braid. Your braid spool will fill more reels and you save money when filling a reel. I like 14 pound mono and use a uni to uni knot.

In more open/clear water I like sunline sniper flouro.
