Hey Guys, in less than a week I'll be going downstate to visit family and have a chance to fish some decent largemouth bass ponds/lakes.  My favorite lake down there happens to have many largemouth, biggest being around 6 lbs.  Usually you have to row or paddle out to reach the fish since the weed cover is so thick near the bank.  Once you're in the deeper water (10-12 feet) you'll find the fish.  My biggest problem is that the weeds in the lake come up all the way from the bottom to about 1 foot below the water's surface.  This makes it nearly impossible to fish lures, unless you use topwater.  Does anyone have suggestions on how to fish here without going just on the surface?  The topwater action is usually alright, but I'd like to try and expand my game if possible.  Thanks

Flip some jigs into the empty pockets and weed edges.

Rig a drop shot with a 2/0 light wire straight shank with an 8" Robo so it is weedless. Leave your leader about 3ft long and throw a 1/8oz weight onto it.

Throw it out as far as you can and walk the worm through the weeds. You'll never know when you actually get a bite, you'll never miss a fish.

Throw it on at least a M/F rod.

As NYBasser said, you can pitch and flip a jig into the holes  and edges of the weeds. A T-rigged soft plastic should work in those areas as well. Additionally, an unweighted senko that is T-rigged and dropped into holes should catch a few also.

What type of weeds?  A punch rig works well on weeds with stems that 'blossom' nearer the surface and a drop shot can be worked in many grass type weeds. Spinnerbaits and cabbage are a deadly combo.  Unsure?  A Texas rigged straight tail worm with a pegged sinker is a good place to start.

I have some thoughts but this man really knows what he's talking about.

Spider slider heads with finesse-type plastics will work down and through the weeds extremely well and get you to those fish nearer the bottom.

Thanks guys for all the help!  I don't know the exact name of the weeds, but judging by google images they look like pond weeds.

I'll definitely try throwing some senkos and flukes.  If I stumble on pockets of water I'll try jigging too.

I would throw a t-rigged senko in the pockets.
