d**n, I wouldn't know, I don't have sub 100 dollars baitcaster so I wouldn't have a "favorite", now if you ask me which sub 100 baitcaster would I get then Daiwa Exceller would be my pick since 99 dollars Tatulas don't exist in Mexico.

I found one for $75 brand new, how does it compare to the H20 mettle?

Good price! The Mettle is an exceptional value for the money. IMO the Lew's is just smoother in it's overall operation.

Daiwa tatula because of aluminum frame would be my pick, but the new caenan and cauis (not sure that's correct spelling) look pretty promising with vbs braking, heg gearing, and super free like the old citica, curado, and chronarch. They have a plastic frame, but would be my choice if I liked centrifugal braking reels. The lews tournament mb and quantum energy are good reels also if you prefer dual braking and can be found under 110. Spinning reels I'd definitely go with the Daiwa procyon around 100 but the Pflueger supreme looks good too and gets good reviews. There are lots of good reels and rods around 100 bucks now

If you look hard enough you can find a deal on a Diawa Tatula right around that price. The other Diawa to look for is an Exceller.  An Exceller cast virtually the same as a Tatule and it is just as tough. It normally retails for $100 but I have picked up 2 this spring for $60.  So far this spring I sold some BPS Extremes and replaced them with 4 Tatulas ( two were type Rs) and  2 Excellers. I do not see a big difference in the Tats and the Exceller.

How do you guys like the cabela's verano casting reel?  Or the daiwa aird?

Wow.  How to chose.  I guess by its intended use.  You didn't mention if the reels have to be in current production.  An all-around great reel that can be found for less than $100 is the original Tatula.  Never touched an Exceler, but read good things about it.  Same for the H2O Mettle.  3/8 oz. up a favorite of mine in that price category is a Daiwa Procaster 100HN.  A surprisingly well built, solid casting reel that sold for $80 new, but mine at a closeout price of $30 was a steal.  Aluminum frame.

A favorite of mine for lighter lures are a couple older gold colored Carbonlites.

No experience with Cabela's Verano, but its specs are very good for the price.  Previous reels were made for Cabela's by Daiwa.  I've got an older Prodigy that is an excellent reel for its price.  Best I can find out is this reel is made for Cabela's by Okuma.  Only experience I have with Okuma is their top of the line Helios Air.  It is a very good reel.

My only experience with Lew's reels are the more expensive ones.  They are also very nice reels.

Another brand that seldom gets mentioned is Pflueger.  I think they are under-rated.  I've got an older Trion from when they sold for $100 new.  It is a casting machine where I now have it mounted....a HF rod casting 1/2 oz. up lures.

EDIT:  I'd look at the Pflueger Supreme.  It can be found for $80 on ebay, or look at the Supreme XT for $120 on ebay if you have a few extra dollars.

Have you tried the pfluegar supreme, president or trion?  FFO has them for 90, 85, and 50 dollars respectively.

I have an older style Trion and I love it. Its my flipping and pitching reel because the drag is better than most.

Normally rods and reels at FFO are going to be older models.  I had two older Trions, but gave one to a deserving young man.  He really liked it....so he said.  The other I still have.  It backlashed like a son-of-a-gun when I first got it.  It came with light braid.  Releasing the spool let the spool spin pretty good.  Therefore I thought it would do good with light baits.  Wrong.  Sent it to Mike (DVT) for cleaning and drag upgrade.  He suggested heavier line and use it with heavier lures.  i spooled with 17# mono and mounted it on a 6'10" HF Quantum Tour Edition, and haven't backlashed it once since then.

I have not used either of the other two models.  An ex-tournament fisherman Online friend of mine bought the Supreme XT.  Liked it well enough to buy a second one.  He has used reels more expensive than I have.  Is also a lot better fisherman.  Has always given me good advice.  He likes the Supreme XT a lot.

Used Shimano Citica E when they show up on eBay.  If it's one of you that's been bidding on the LH retrieve 201E reels that have been popping up, stop it!!
