Triton21 Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 I am taking delivery on a new Triton TR21XDC on the 15th of Feb. Has a 225 Optimax on Jack Plate and a 4 blade stainless prop. Can anyone send me a link to explain how to "Tweak" it to get the most speed out of it. Kelley Quote
JT Bagwell Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 Without really know your complete setup I can't really say much. Two things that do come to mind are Trim extenders and a Tempest Prop. The 4 blade (Trophy) prop will handle better, but the 3 blade Tempest will give you a little more speed. JT Bagwell Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted January 16, 2006 Super User Posted January 16, 2006 Triton 21, I'd take JT's advise, he's right on the money. Also, that Trophy is going to dial up your RPM's when your breaking in a new motor, and let me tell you 10 hours is a long time. A 27 degree pitch Tempest is probably a better choice, after all you wouldn't put 13" rims on your tow vehicle, right? Oh, and congradulations on your new boat! JB Quote
Triton21 Posted January 16, 2006 Author Posted January 16, 2006 Thanks JTB & JB. This gives me a starting point. I found a lot on Jack Plate adjustment on the web but not much on props. If it is OK I will be picking your brains when I get started on my quest. Thanks again. Kelley Quote
JT Bagwell Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Glad we could be of some assistance. Just remember, Tritons like the jackplate set high. Having it lower will reduce the amount of Chine walk only because it greatly reduces your speed. If you set it high you will have to "drive" your Triton but you will see a lot more speed. Just be sure to keep a close eye on your H2O PSI gauge. Don't let it get to low. I think mine stays around 15-18 psi, but you can go a little bit lower. JT Bagwell Quote
Triton21 Posted January 19, 2006 Author Posted January 19, 2006 Thanks jt. I had a Bullet so I know all about chine walk. Am getting older so decided to go from a sports car to a "Rolls Royce". LOL Kelley Quote
