dsqui Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 i fond myself fishing in 15-25 fow this time of year always wondering while fishing if there is a better option for lure presentation, or if i switch wondering if i made a mistake. so here is my question what factors do you guys think about to figure out what technique you are going to use or atleast concentrate on and spend more time working? like i stated i find myself out deeper like 15-25 and sometimes as deep as 35 with a real sandy bottom crystal clear lake so i usually look past the shaky head and use a drop shot. my problem is i only have one "finesse" rod so its a real pain to try and switch back and forth. i know i know buy another rod but at the moment i cant quite afford it Quote
papajoe222 Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 I's stick with the drop shot for a number of reasons. First and foremost, you can adjust the distance off bottom easily and can even fish it on the bottom if need be, without re-rigging. Second, regardless of the plastic bait used, it's more visible to fish both from a distance and close up. A jig is a great presentation, but the fish either need to be looking down, or willing to move once it's spotted. Either way, they need to be somewhat on the active side. The drop shot appeals to them no matter what mood they happen to be in. 2 Quote
Airman4754 Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 If I'm targeting just weeds and grass its the Neko. Deep rocky bottoms and gravely banks is shaky head territory. Everything else is a drop shot. I also use a drop shot as a search bait a lot too. Quote
Hot Rod Johnson Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 1. Dropshot 2. Neko Rig 3. Shaky Head in that order at least 4 to 5 passes both ways with each rig.In the Spring use a 4 1/2 " Roboworms in Green and Purple Colors. Use some Shad Colors (MORNING DAWN)also. If it's this time of the year use "Summer Worms" that are 7" or longer. Try Wackey Riging these worms too. Quote
