bunsack27 Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 I purchased a Shimano Cardiff 300a from Bass Pro yesterday and when I took it out of the box in the store the reel felt just fine. When I got in the car the reel had an unknown spot of friction on it, it felt rough. We were already 2 hours away from the store (Rancho Cucamonga, Los Angeles traffic was bad) and there was no going back. When i got home I reel was really grindy and I was afraid if I reel it anymore it would break. I have all the original papers that came in the box and the receipt. I have already contacted Shimano about this. Should i contact Bass Pro? Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted August 6, 2016 Super User Posted August 6, 2016 You should return the reel... 1 Quote
EllisJuan Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Take off the sideplate and make sure the spool is seated properly. Quote
Fishinthefish Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Check the spool, if it seems aligned right take it back immediately. Quote

Super User fishnkamp Posted August 7, 2016 Super User Posted August 7, 2016 Bass pro will exchange it instantly. Where did they put a Bass Pro in that town? I had a friend from Baltimore MD. move there and about 7 years ago we visited her. Kinda a cool town. Did they put it near that huge outside mall they built? As for traffic it is ALWAYS bad lol. Those mountains are beautiful in the background though. She lived about 6 block away from the airport there. 1 Quote

That sucks man. Take it back. Call BPS tell them you are hours away from the store and they may ship you a replacement. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted August 7, 2016 Super User Posted August 7, 2016 Welcome aboard! Agree with the others, return it, or exchange it. Quote
Caliyak Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 You're better off coming up to Manteca BPS to avoid the traffic. LOL Take it back and get another. Quote

The last big fire destroyed much of that beautiful scenery. But, it's coming back. Quote
Super User fishnkamp Posted August 7, 2016 Super User Posted August 7, 2016 It is beautiful out there BUT as an East Coast guy I could never live in that traffic around the greater LA area. One neat thing we did out there during our vacation was to take a boat out to Catalina Island. Wow. Quote

Maggiesmaster Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Call BassPro.....tell them about the reel and order another one on your credit card. Ship them the old one and they'll credit your card for the purchase price. You'll lose the shipping costs, but that's all. They've always been fair with me and my returns. Quote
