If the bass are biting light I will set the hook anytime I feel something.

I always wonder how many baits i've ripped out of a bass' face :annoyed1:

The question is "how many personal best hawgs had your lure & ya didn't set hook?"

My biggest problems are small panfish and gar. I have snagged two small sunfish this year so far when they smacked my crankbaits. River gar sorta' just tap but are catchable with sharp hooks and fast reflexes.

Those critters psych me out so often... It's very frustrating.

If you keep in touch with what's going on underwater you get premonition hook sets, you just know a bass has the lure.
