Super User fishballer06 Posted August 5, 2016 Super User Posted August 5, 2016 I would be curious to see that stat's of how many threads get posted on here in a year asking for the best $100 rod... I'm betting it's in the hundreds... As others have said, the stickied thread or the search button on here will likely give you way more information than you'll even want to read. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted August 5, 2016 Super User Posted August 5, 2016 New, used, closeout, list or what I paid? Original Tatulas ran $150-$170 new. Paid less than $100 for all but the first one I bought. Paid $100 for my first one (a used rod), but that was "to my door" so the seller didn't get more than about $80 for it. The best $100 rod is going to be one on closeout or a used one in good shape. Love my Tatula and Elite Tech Smallmouth rods. First 2 Smallmouths I bought were new for less than $80....a steal. FFO sold some Fenwick Aetos casting rods for $75. Man what a bargain! Very nice rods at full price. Like stated several times already, search and ye shall find. Plenty of "Best $100 Rod" threads. However, I don't mind giving my opinion, but you must realize that I've only used a limited number of brands...or rods in a line....so there will be lots of other opinions from others using different brands that will be just as valid as my opinions.. Full price, look at a Fenwick HMG. I hear good things about the H2O Ethos rods sold by Academy Sports, but have zero experience with them. If you can add $10 to that limit, then there are even more options for new rods such as the Dobyns Fury or the original Tatula. We are blessed today with a lot of excellent rods withing that price range. EDIT: You haven't filled out your profile, but I am going to assume you are 16 years old.....from your username. Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted August 5, 2016 Super User Posted August 5, 2016 I've got a handful of Cabela's rods bought at different times over the last 5-6 years or so that I paid under $100 for. All were on sale when I bought them. Some are XML's (standard and Walleye series) and a couple are Tournament ZX. While I am a St. Croix fan, these Cabela's rods impress me every time I use them, especially considering what I paid for them. If I pick 1 out of all of them as a favorite it would be the 6'9" Tournament ZX jerkbait/topwater casting rod. Love it! I have a Daiwa TD-Z 103H mounted on it and use it mostly for tossing 4" tubes for smallies but it's a very versatile stick in my opinion. 1 Quote
